Yiyun Li -- for a student on your level, you may need several research questions for each section/chapter of your thesis.

Thank you for the excellent video! Concisely explained how the difference between Research and Search questions. That I have got from your video below: The research question aims to find a sequence/list/multiple answers rather than one as the search question. It should be answerable, how/what-question forms, and non-personal view questions.

Hello, Tamara! You're welcome for the videos. About reading, for academic articles, first read the abstract, next read the introduction, skip over the methods, and go to results and conclusion. The body of an academic article is meant for peer reviewers, not researchers.

I'm working in a projectgroup and our current question is 'What is the riskperception of students that have actively been involved in cybercrime versus students that haven't been involved?' However I think it's a difficult research-question to answer.. any help?

This is a good research question. You just need to have a good working defintion of "risk perception."

In most analytical research there are generally two types of variables. Independent variables are what we expect will influence dependent variables. A dependent variable is what happens as a result of the independent variable.

If you could just take a few sentences to explain what the assignment is, what topic you have in mind, what aspect of SMEs you wish to explore. I'm not even sure what you mean by SMEs--small and medium sized companies? subject matter experts? It is not possible for me to help you without this information.

Either. That type of lit review (LR) can be found in qualitative and quantitative research. In both cases, the LR always fulfills these purposes: to (1) establish a territory, (M2) establish a niche, and (3) occupy the niche.

Actually there are another topics that our teacher tell us about but "rainforest" and "children & pets" are interesting topics for me. I am confused about how your proposed questions relate to your topic. Your topic is about how reading develops a student's cognitive skills. But questions are about which cognitive skills are important for reading comprehension. There is also the issue of which cognitive skills you are referring to: Sustained Attention. Response Inhibition. Speed of Information Processing. Cognitive Flexibility. Multiple Simultaneous Attention. Working Memory. Category Formation. Pattern Recognition. My suggestion is to set up a study: (1) Measure specific cognitive skills in a group of students. (2) Conduct a program aimed at improving reading comprehension. (3) Retest students to measure for increases in the original cognitive skills you tested.

These two questions are for two different studies. English class can involve very different skills and training than just reading would. I would suggest: "How does reading affect cognitive function in children?" I still do not understand what is meant by the phrase "how does reading comprehension improve cognitive skills." Reading comprehension is a result. It is not an actor. I think you may mean "how does reading improve cognitive skills?"
