I just have this question, and don't know where to ask: I don't understand what's the reason to wrap baby's arms inside? It is unthinkable to me. I didn't do that to mine.

Babies are not much tolerable to the external cold environment and wrapping them like this helps them feel warm moreover like they felt in their mother's womb. Please correct me if I am wrong.

@@user-eq8gi8qx7f "they felt in their mother's womb", most doctors say that, but is in the mother's womb best for the baby? I would say, that's remarkable uncomfortable. That's rather a compromise than an advantage. There are other way to keep arm warm. I would never wrap my baby's arms like that, I think it is torturous.

@@seanleith5312 Babies who are swaddled sleep longer and more soundly. Swaddled babies experience less anxiety. Swaddling prevents unnecessary wake-ups due to the startle reflex. ... Swaddling soothes babies with colic (again, when swaddled, they feel secure and safe just like they felt in the womb). By the way even I say swaddling them for long durations is not good, it restricts their movement. Also it is torturous when they're swaddled for very long duration. Also babies cry if they aren't comfortable with it.

I had two kids and never wrapped either one of them. Both were bottle feed, slept thru the nite at five months (boy & girl). Skim milk they drank when formula days were over at four months old. All this BS today is hilarious. Shots in the doctor's office were given by the doctor not the annoying Nurses like today with their nasal sounding voices like drones. Also after shots back in the carriage and out I went. Half hour in the office tops. These videos look like the whole day is done. My kids r now adults. One is 46 & the other 38 with kids of their own now in their teen years. What a hoot these videos r especially w the dad's tagging along like body guards. I went alone. Husband was working. Very self sufficient I was.

To the 2 comments above: (Sabrina and Nolan) What??????? Most hospitals even have a friggin peace of paper and they MAKE you learn the basics of swaddling and how to take care of your kid and they make you put your signature and get a nurses signature MAKING SURE you know before being sent home. People are so fuckin ignorant I swear. "Do your own research". No, how about you go do your own research on how to not be such a fuckin asshole to new mommies??? Most people believe its absolutely mandatory to be taught this. Most of those people are fuckin nurses. Get your heads out of your asses. Gross.

Sabrina Spencer Some people aren’t aware of the dangers of wrapping a baby incorrectly especially new mums! My question is why are you on a video on how to wrap a baby yet commenting on how someone should raise a baby you wouldn’t be on this video if you clearly knew it all. People like you are the reason why new mums doubt themselves good on her for doing the “research” and educating ourselves

I've only used the diamond swaddle with all 6 of my children ...as I read comments the reason too swaddle the baby is so you don't have loose blankets or material in the crib or basenet that could possibly cause the newborn too suffocate accidently ie SIDS this is why it is neccasary also helps baby sleep and feel comforted like in the womb if anything those baby sleeping bag things are dangerous just someone trying too market their product and make money plan and simple and no swaddling does not cause hip dysplasia unless it's ludacrisly tight you should always only have a firm swaddle not a crazey tight one .... Swaddling has been done for eons and the reason nurses show parents be for they leave the hospital is so you don't leave your baby with loose blankets in the crib or basenet for risk of suffocation Sids ...anyway overheating can be a issue that's why you have several types of blankets for different occasions like a thin one in the summer and thicker one in the winter beside most body heat is lost from your head baby's head is cold put a little toque on if baby gets sweaty take toque off simple ....

Babies sleep better when swaddled, it's like being in the womb again. Without being tightly swaddled, they have a strong startle reflex and will wake themselves up.

It’s also so they have a blanket that won’t suffocate them in the night. My baby girl won’t sleep if she can thrash her arms. (Even before the sleeping starts) she looses heat from her hands and feet quickly.) Obviously we haven’t figured out how to keep her arms in yet.

hallooooo 2020 swaddle may increase the baby's body temperature to a dangerous level. can help babies sleep more peacefully and therefore more "heavily". However, this reduces the reflexes that their brain needs to deal with the case of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, but the most common risk that experts talk about is hip dysplasia. The soft ligaments in the newborn's hip may not be strengthened when the cloth is tightly wrapped around his legs, thus restricting his movements.

Hi Dawn, there are a lot of schools of thought on thjis from medical experts across the globe and in hospitals all over the world babies are still being swaddled. As you can see in our video one of the demonstrators is a neo-natal nurse and addresses this and none of the swaddling we did restricts hip movement.

Once you get to a certain age you dont need to swaddle anymore, it's just a comfort thing. Some babies even have a hard time sleeping without a swaddle after doing it for so long so it's a good starting transition into no swaddle sleeping

My first son i tried to swaddle but he hated it and slept fine without it. My second son (currently 2 months old) will NOT sleep more then 3 minutes unless he is swaddled. I tried swaddling this time around out of desperation and its absolutely necessary for him to sleep. It really depends on the baby.

Several reasons for swaddling. Babies swaddled 0- 6 mos turn into calm children. The startle reflex: notice when infants raise their hands up, like "under arrest", and suddenly jerk or shake? That reflex comes from our only inherent fear. The fear of falling. Swaddling prevents this fear and the cascade of hormones that are triggered from becoming a familiar emotion. It is the fear from which all others are born. An infant won't fear falling if its in the womb, which is what swaddling feels like to them. Other reasons, too.
