Hello dear, it truely depends on the companies you apply to, jobs are unpredictable on how you find one or where you find one. Everyone gets a different result. Best is to prepare yourself, learn the language, gain extra skills or prove on your transferable skills.

Salary would be between 950 to 1800 in local companies and higher if you work for international companies.

What of Optometry(eye doctor) work, can language be a barrier in getting optometry job there

Yes language is necessary for such a job because most of the patients will be of aging years and most don't speak or even understand English. So even basic conversational Portuguese is necessary.

Depends on the company you will work for but you definitely need Portuguese to be successful in the real estate world here unless you will be working with international clients solely.

There are no deadlines, deadlines only apply to your embassy in your home country for Portugal.

Hi Benny, with the new immigration law your wife need a work visa and must apply for it from your home country and she must have a job offer first before they can approve her process. Must work visa are being rejected but if she gets a good job offer or if she works for herself through the D7 or D2 visa that may be another way.
