Do you work from home?
If so, I think you'll find this video helpful...
It's called:
"How To Successfully Work From Home (Habits, Handling Distractions, And The Ultimate Office Setup)"
Working from home can be tough, especially if you're doing it for the first time.
In this video I cover 3 things:

This is the first video in a series of "Principles" videos I'll be releasing over the coming weeks & months.
Every Tuesday I'll release a "Life Principle" video in what I'm calling "Training Tuesdays".
Every Thursday (and sometimes Friday), I'll release a "Business Principle" video.

Great video! I homeschooled for 18 years. I found out very early on that I had to set boundaries with family, friends and acquaintances regarding "work/school" time otherwise people figured we could be available at a drop of a hat. I never answered my phone during school time. I continue this today as I have transitioned to a writer. I appreciate your explanations on a stand-up desk. I had been contemplating one and you explained many benefits that I had not thought of before. I always appreciate how your videos are full of great practical information with no fluff! Keep them coming!

Yes, these are so important! My wife and I have been working on the road and from home for the last 3 years and we are in a situation now where we are breaking almost all of the most important rules or principles you point out. Desk in the bedroom. Bad lighting. Crazy irregular hours. And, so much more. My wife has been super busy and she has been basically scheduling work calls and getting tasks done at all hours of the day for about a year now. It is really difficult. I am going to have to sit down with her and go over all the elements included herein (many of which I have already been asking for) and figure out a way for us to improve so our businesses and working from home situation can sustain itself. Thank you for the clear breakdown and suggestions, Chandler. Very helpful, indeed!

Avoiding distractions is one of the most difficult challenges for me. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between an opportunity and a temptation. Great advice on setting boundaries, especially the part where you say, "If you're halfway working all the time, you're not really working. But you're also not really resting." And the stand-up desk is a great idea!

This is perfect timing for me to hear this. I’m drastically downsizing from a house I’ve lived in for 42 years to a two-bedroom apartment, in which one bedroom can be a dedicated office. This is an opportune time to simplify and declutter. I’m thinking also of which of the two rooms gets the most natural light. I’ll be moving within the next few months, right at a time when I am trying to focus on finishing writing my first self-published book. Actually, the more I declutter, the more freed up my mind gets. It’s quite exhilarating to think “new” set-up and new tools. Thanks so much! This is awesome, and I’ve heard just half of it so far!

Chandler, I worked from home for many years, in part to be available for my special needs son after school. You have some great ideas. When he was young, I often split my day, working while he was t school, then after his bedtime so I could catch up with West Coast clients. After my elderly dad moved into our home, I was also able to be there for emergencies but also have lunch with him o the deck. Wish I had done the standing desk all those years ago!!!

This video would have helped me many years ago. I quit my job in 1995 and installed my "office" in my bedroom. That first changed in 2001, when my husband and I bought two connected houses and decided to make one of them our office. We had no idea that it would make such a difference. Another thing I recommend, and which I do now, is to set a fixed time to stop working. I stop working every day at 5 pm. This was hard to begin with because I love my work. And remember to take at least one day off per week.

As I've already got a crook back n neck in so glad you addressed the issues of the desk, computer, and chair. I was told by my physio to even have my mobile phone at eye sight so I wasn't continually bending my neck down to look at the screen. The working clothes. I've never thought of that, I work in my pajamas all day. Happy with that but it can be a sign both for myself and other people. 3. I was surprised by the fact that other people think you don't do anything and want to control your schedule. That's controlled now that I have no friends (LOL) but that's a theme every now and then. Eoxcellent video! I particularly like the idea of working from a naturally sunlit room. Right now, my workspace is carved out of a corner of a dark, fluorescent-lit basement. Sometimes I feel like a mole 🐀 . It’s no wonder I occasionally have difficulty motivating myself. I’m going to work on moving my office space up to a sun-lit room. I know just the right spot! Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video!

Good stuff! Totally agree on the stand-up desk. It is a must. I like the suggestion of searching out sales of companies going out of business of other essentials.

I like the whiteboard idea for keeping monthly goals in front of you. I don't have a real good office setup at this point, but will take your suggestions and work on getting those set up (especially the stand-up desk).

Solid video. Thank you. I need to commit to set start and end times. I tend to just keep working if everything isn’t done yet. Getting myself to stop when I’m in the middle of something is super tough... and there’s always more things I can think of to get done than I can actually do ha.

Love it. Especially enjoyed the ergonomics lesson. Now I need to keep my eyes open for a Hermann Miller chair and a stand up desk.

tip #2 was such an eye opener! I realize now that I haven't been getting much work done because I've never set any boundaries. No more! Such good advice for 2019 when I launch my business. Also, I need that chair :)

Thank you, Chandler you always give your best stuff very helpful video I learn a ton. Me personally as a mother of 4 what I do I wake up at 4 AM and try to do the most important early before they wake up.My biggest take away is try to have natural light and set boundaries before you start. Pray for you to have more wisdom in other to change more lives.
