How to wire solenoids on warn m12000 winch
So i scored a great deal on a warn m12000 winch for my welding rig. When i tested it it only spooled on under power and just clicked when tryingbto spool out. After a bunch of trial and error with solenoids and wiring i finally decided to just replace all 4. Part numbers are uncluded in the video for you to buy your new solenoids from. Thanks for watching and hope it helps!

Thanks!
The problem with these solenoids is that none of them are a continuous duty solenoid. Typical starter solenoids are only designed to run for 15-30 seconds at a time. For winches and other applications, you should make sure that you have a continuous duty solenoid that is designed for longer run times. These generally cost a little more.

That is a good point. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

I just watched a video about starting and continuous duty solenoids.
I pull a 82000 lb truck with a 15000 lb winch. It’s your rolling resistance, not the trucks weight that counts.

Very true. But I also like to take into account when the truck is stuck it will not have very much rolling advantage.
Why do they need 4 solenoids?

That's a very good question. I'm not an electrical engineer so I can't exactly answer that. Lol
Is your winch a 3 wire controller
