i agree , well made video
Brilliant explanation, thank you. It reassured me before replacing an existing fan with a new one
Thanks for this. Worked like a charm. I thought the black was neutral like old style wiring and not second live. New fan works a treat now. All credit to you and your easy to follow guide. Thank again

Sometimes you can use the black as earth as well, if you find in the wire brown (L) grey (N) and the black then is for earthing, normally you can find that in the armed cables
Thank you. I’m installing one today. Step by step guide fantastic
Brilliant video. Clear and concise. Thank you for sharing. Keep up with the wonderful work that you do.
Seeing actual wires makes the process infinitely more easy to understand than trying to comprehend a wiring diagram. We'll done!
Fantastic video. So comprehensive and clearly explained.
Best explanation on KZread. Well done. I'm installing a inline extractor with the help of this video
Thanks so much. Saved me calling an electrician. All working ok. Mega!
Thank you so much for this, was extremley clear on what to do, was able to put in a fan and isolator switch without any troubles! And I didn't electrocute myself, so win win.

I don’t understand why in switching light are 3 cables. So 1 is 3 core and earth, second is feeding but the third what is?
Extremely good and clear set of instructions
This is how all DIY should be explained.
Nice bit of how to work again, I love the wago connections they are real quick and easy.

As you say, Wago connectors are brilliant. But be careful where you source them everybody. There are many fake versions which are dangerous. Getting them online is a rusk.

@@negara54 I can't get them to work at college, I'm guessing not one size fits all
great explanation without the usual fluff
This video shows how to wire fan isolator to the pull cord switch where there is permanent live, switch live and neutral are at the switch. If you have all these 3 at the ceiling rose then you need to connect it there.

hi what is the grey wire for never seen one before. Only one I know is brown, blue and earth (stripped). Thanks.
@DerekHundik

Jk957 in 3 cord wires cable there is no blue but black brown and grey. So black is Neutral ( blue sleeving ) brown is brown and grey is also live so you put brown sleeving over it.

What if my light switch has only twin and earth ? (Live, neutral and earth)
Clear and concise just what i needed. thank you. Subscribed.
Lovely Polish accent. Dzięki za pomoc. Thanks for help.😎🇵🇱
You show a very good demonstration and how it's done. Thank you.
Your information is very helpful and detailed. Thank you
please do more video like this one, very well explained and easy for any one to follow. thanks a lot.
Good video. I would consider L1 as brown (switching line) and L2 as Black (permanent line) for the fan overrun after the bathroom light is switched off. Red yellow blue / brown black grey. Yellow was a permanent on lighting circuits back then. Grey as neutral theses days. I know the above are the new and old phase colours, and were on a single phase circuit in this video. It’s just an easy way to remember it.
Excellent instructions very clear and well presented Keep it up

The use of flat headed screws in this day and age still amazes me.

Yeh does my nut in when people use them. My house is 200 yrs old and when refurbing every screw I found was a flat head made taking anything down a bloody nightmare 😂

That's because mains testing screwdrivers are flat, so it would be illogical to use a PZ1 or 2 😊 why carry 2 when you can carry 1
Excellent explanation and demonstration.....thank you

Hi Dans the Engineer. regarding the position of the isolator, according to BS7671, part 7 of the book, Special location, Section 701, every isolator switch need to be installed outside the premise. hope this is helpful. Cheers

Good
Just install a PIR motion-sensor extractor fan. Also known as a room occupancy sensor. That being the PIR motion-sensor function is built into the fan itself thus requiring a simpler Live and Neutral feed.
Great video! Thanks mate!
