For those that are still confused: the gold connector goes to a ground. The opposite connector on the switch goes to the battery or power source. The middle connector goes to whatever you're controlling, and in this case it's the light, so it would connect to the red power wire coming from the light he showed in the video. The switch will light up when you have it in the "on" position and the item you are powering up will also turn on. Hope that helps. Here is a good video that is much more clear - kzread.info/dash/bejne/onyYuKd_dpS8iJs.html FYI - Always use a good crimper so it makes nice crimps and not ugly loose ones like the ones in the video. Also, don't use the wrong color connector butts for the wire you are using - do the job right, especially if you're going to make a video to show others. Cheers.

I have a question, I used this switch, I cut the negative wire in half (it’s for a particle seperater on a side by side) I cut the negative in half and put one end on the gold and one end on the outter silver. Left the middle one blank. And it works when I turn the switch on it works and the led lights up. The middle pin is blank. I’m confused if it is safe? And why it still works? I’m just using 2 pins , the negative wire only. And the led still lights up.

Hi I’ve made one of the boxes with a main switch to power everything in the box but when it’s in the off position it’s still lit up but still works turning on and off the rest of the box is it an easy fix or a faulty switch?

nice instruction for us non electrical type gurus. Trying to add a fan switch that will be turned on when the ATV is being ridden. The oil cooler fan works when I apply direct battery to the red and black wires. I think though that I will need to run a fuse as well for extra protection.

I could be wrong, but I don't thing the two positives matter which one is which, so long as you don't hook either of them up to the ground, it's basically just connecting the two wires.

I was looking for help wiring an illuminated switch to a USB charger for my motorcycle, and this is exactly what I was looking for. I only have one question though. Why do you need an illuminated switch when it is so close to the actual light which it is operating? The light being on would be enough to show you that it's, well, on. Thanks all the same.

I was a bit stumped by some of these that I bought. Tried using an ohmmeter to check continuity which just tested open no matter which pins I went across. Finally figured out the switch must be powered to work. I assume there is a tiny circuit board with a chip that closes to activate the switch. If someone knows how the electronics work please share, kind of curious.

You swap the live and load wires (on the 2 white connectors). That way power always goes to the switch LED, comes off thru the bottom pin (to the bulb) once you switch the switch ON.

  • @johnviera3884

This is incorrect. It will work but it’s wrong. Gold is ground. Middle is positive input. The other outer prong is your output to the accessory.
