I watched a few videos the other night that showed up in my KZread feed on how to winterize a boat. I only watched 2 minutes and shut them off. So I wanted to make my own In my own opinion on how I winterize and have winterized my boats. Particularly the Mercruiser 3.0L engine. Please make sure to follow all manuals service manuals of your own boat.

    Good video. But you forget to put antifreeze to the block. Antifreeze will not let the block oxidize inside during cold winter days. I am using regular RV antifreeze. You need about two gallons of it for 3.0 Mercruiser. And easy way to drain the block, just push those two hoses down. Thanks for video.

    Great video! Thanks, very helpful. I have the same boat. Likewise I want to winterized and then pull out on warmer days. Question, I didn’t see you address water in the lower end, or did you just lower the outdrive to drain? I did just pull the lowest black tube and poured some antifreeze down it, blew on the hose and it did come out the holes in the outdrive. Thoughts? ...many thanks!

    Pretty good job. But as an Alaskan who know about really winterizing a boat, you always leave the tank full (or very close) you will do much more damage to your engine system if you let your tank build up moisture during the thaw. Other than that pretty good.

  • @fiero880

    @fiero880

    Should be just fine. Seafoam is good. The fogging just keeps the moisture in the engine while in storage from rusting or corroding which you see more when storing outdoors covered than indoors.

    If inboard engine draws water to cool from lake/river--for sure. Otherwise, there will be water inside engine to freeze. Don't know answers for other engines. And would I leave the blue drain hoses off until antifreeze comes out since they are the draining points?? Having trouble finding a video showing this for some reason........

    Honestly, the easiest contraction I have seen if you want to use antifreeze is the pink RV antifreeze attached to a tank that connects to the muffs. Just like running the engine on the garden hose except you run it on this tank. I do not have the link at this time but google it. There is a KZread video showing it.

  • @fiero880

    The AQ125 has a closed cooling system. It takes in raw water, then through the strainer if you still have yours, then through a heat exchanger which is the red tank. This transfer the heat to the cooling liquid for the engine. If your AQ125 has been probably serviced, then yes there should be antifreeze in the engine or the closed portion of the cooling system. But you still have to winterize the raw portion of the cooling system.

That's whats going to bring the shine back on any dull gel coat. On top of that to protect it and add a little extra shine i HIGHLY recommend Collinite 845 wax. It's super easy to use and requires very little "elbow grease" to get it wipes off. I use it on a fleet of 35 limousines as well and LOVE it. Cheers.
