How to wind and rewind an RC brushless motor | part 1

Brushless outrunner motors are the working horse of RC hobby. They power everything now: drones, airplanes, cars, boats. And from time to time they just burn. You can buy a new one, they are not that expensive, but you can also rewind them.
To rewind brushless outunner motor winded in dLRK (95% of cases?) you only need 3 things: motor, wire and time. And a knowledge how to do it.
In this video I show how brushless outrunner motor looks like inside, 12n14P (12 coils, 14 magnets), present dLRK winding schema and two possible ways to terminate phases: Delta and WYE (Star).

    Dear sir. This is very useful vlog. Very good. ;) so....how to mod the rewind of 2300 kv motor so they can perform better for the race...yes of course for adding some thrust and running 4s. I want to push them for their optimum performance? Is it possible?

    yousif esmail no you can not just increase or decrease. There is limited number of valid combinations on number of coils and magnets.

    By testing probably. I mean you can compute power under load and heat dispassion but the best way is just to test it

    The insulation is just a very thin and flexible layer so it doesn't really make it harder to wind. For example, a 0.3mm magnet wire I found has 0.02 - 0.03mm insulation thickness in its specifications.

    12 coils, 14 magnets. And yes, magnets got N S N S in a circle

    There is modified dLRK winding method, that gives phase wires in pairs for delta connections. See here: rcexplorer.se/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/mororrewind.gif

    Pawel, nice video. However, I think you mixed the facts. The number of coils (poles) affects the speed... not the number of turns in a coil. The motor speed is proportional to the number of coils/poles and the voltage frequency. Multiple conductors solution (instead of one thick conductor) is usually chosen because the electricity actually runs on/through the conductor surface (not the core). Therefore, multiple conductors can sustain more current and thereby produce stronger electromagnetic field. Other than that, you are mostly right.

    That means you either have a short between coils or you connected coils in a wrong order

    7:52 You got the second part of phase B wrong. It should have been CCW, CW. Not CW, CCW.

    How can we bind a 48v 1000w bldc motor for scooter that can run near about 60km/h (mainly my question is about coil binding just like coil binding wire size and how many rounds should be of wire in a coil)

    or rather not. This is a 3 phase AC motor, only the ESC is powered by DC

    The details are hidden in the fact that the freaking Chinese never follow the technical specifications. And even if a triangle (delta) (T) is declared on the passport, inside there will be a star (wye) (Y). After all, sometimes you want to save money, and buy a motor for more HF and simply slow it down by reworking it from a delta to a star.
