I replaced mine and it was working fine for a week but then the door would not lock. Did you have to pull the green wire to get your washer door to open? If so did you have to reset the green cord?

Huge kudos. Succinct, well produced, nicely edited, clear process and list of needed tools. Got me through the process in under 20 minutes, not counting the time used to take advantage of the access to clean accumulated dreck from interior crevices. I’ll note that my latch assembly had four wire connectors, so y’all may want to watch for that, depending on your specific model. We’ll Done!👏👏

This video just helped me change the door lock assembly by myself, so for that I thank you. Very easy to understand & see what you are doing. I still don't know what was wrong with the old one because pulling the green cord did not help, but at least now I know it's there. And my wet towels are finally being washed after 2 days sitting in water. Thanks for the help.

My needs were simpler than replacing the part. i removed the detergent dispenser to thoroughly clean it and repair some rust beneath the bezel frame. What stumped me was that yellow/green florescent "fishing" line. I've owned this Maytag pair for 21 years, and i never knew what that line was for and where it's supposed to be. Now I can reassemble without wondering if I broke something! Thanks!!

Very helpful video on removal of lock assembly. My door was shutting hard but on removal the assembly really needed some lubrication. I used some faucet grease and a bit of 3 in 1 oil. With a small screw driver I lubed all the moving parts and now it works great. No need for a new assembly. $$$ saved.

Just want to say that i could have purchased the product for fewer bucks at amazon but decided to buy it from you because you are the one who presented the video that showed me how to replace the unit. I think that's fair because a service call would have cost much more. thanks

OMG I am a 52 year old female that just fixed my washer using your video. I was scared to death but after watching your video I thought I can do this myself. I did it and it only took 45 minutes. Thank you very much for the video.

Thank you for this vid. I was able to open my washing machine up to find I just had a cable loose. Life saver.

Great instructions. After disassembly I was able to lube the surface on the latch mechanism and make my door shut properly again.

Thank you so much, I watched many video's before yours because my door was stuck and not until yours did anyone show the green wire to release the latch! It opened with it, I will still probably have to replace the latch at some point but not today, Thank-you!

Many times it is the switch broken etc . Also the metal brace running across the washer that the switch attaches to can bend in from repeated door slamming . Watch for sharp edges but you can carefully flex the brace forward bending it back out a bit . I also had an issue where the switch contact were dirty so I used Elec contact cleaner and fixed both problems . I have the new switch on the shelf which I know one day I will need . Great video , thank you .

I Love the way neptunes wash, ALWAYS CLEAN NEAT CLOTHES! I found a neptune second hand, from someone that was getting new machines. I replaced the bearing and it worked fabulous! Then started having issue with the door lock-unlock. I would unplug, plug in and restart. It would start eventuallly. But one day no matter what I did, it wouldnt go. I had another lock mechanism that I kept from another machine, so thought i'd replace it. I took the panels off and before I removed the switch, I got a can of wd-40 sprayed around the lock area and made sure all the electrical connections were tight. I temporarily put on the door and tried the machine. Much to my suprise the door locked and started right off. If anyone has this issue try to lubricate the lock and make sure to tighten any loose connections.

​@kevinwaidman1938 yes, one of the switches for spinning wasn't functioning and I wired it directly. It's been working ever since. I think these have three switches. My switch that I replaced was located in the front of the washer. There are some in the back also check which switch is not functioning on yours

Thank you so much. But at over $200.00 cost for the lock assembly plus shipping for the part, it is an expensive guess if the fault is the wiring, connectors, or control panel. How should one multimeter the connectors to check for Voltage? Continuity? Voltage Drop?

nice video but i am wondering if it will fix my washer, i have the Maytag Neptune Model # MAH5500BWW and the door seems to have issues. I would have to push hard to close and when is push the start button, door latch will sound click but the washing will not start. The control panel states that door is lock, will replacing this door latch assembly fix my problem? My door latch assembly part is 62822120, please let me know

There’s a step missing between the soap dish 4 screws and the control panel on top coming off? After the soap assembly, next image we see is the control panel gone…how does that come off?

I need to do this on our Maytag Neptune washer that we just got used, which is failing to unlock at end of cycle and showing an LO error code. Although I read it could be either the touch control board, everything leads to the door latch assembly, info-wise. But, I have never touched fixing a washer before. Soo, I was looking around to figure out how to take it apart without damaging the washer. Looks to be a lot easier then I expected. Due to that, I'll be first checking to see if one of the wire-harnesses on that got jostled about in the move and will be taking down the part number to replace if that doesn't work. I'll be bookmarking this vid for reference, in- case i forget a step. But, thank you very much for posting it as this vid is just what I needed to learn how to replace that part. ^-^/

Update: I seemed to have fixed the issue. I took it apart via this instructional vid, pulled the door lock assembly, inspected it. Then replaced the electrical clips, making sure they were not loosened due to the move. Then, when putting it back together, I switched the door hinges back to the way they would've been when manufactured. It now opens from the right, instead of left side. After plugging it back in, the washer worked immediately with no issues, no few seconds lag like it had before, when choosing whether to lock or not. I think that fixed the problem. But, if it decides to not unlock after end of cycle again, I'll be replacing this part, of which I took down the model number for. Thank yous! ^.^/

Thank you for that. I really appreciate it. ^-^/ Ever since I did this, it has been running just fine. I agree, it may have just been a loose wiring harness. Either that or the door as when the door opened from the left, it would always have to be lifted up slightly to shut on that side. Since switching the hinges over, the door now shuts just fine from the right, swinging flush back and forth. So, between one of those two possibilities, one of them fixed it. I also keep this in mind if I need assistance in the future. Thanks.

Ok I am ready to order the part and do this, however the door is stuck shut. How can I get the door to open? Is there a way to bypass the lock? thank you.

I replaced the part but the FL code appears and it does not lock the door. 🥺

I replaced the old doorlock assembly with a new one as you showed how in the video... i am having the SAME problem. what else could be causing this? i did recheck the door latch and made sure door is not loose.

The door is slightly difficult to open and close. I replaced the switch and there was little improvement. I even pulled the switch mounting frame slightly forward in case it was misaligned - still the same. How easy is it to open and close the door on this model? The only thing left is the metal latch on the door itself, which is probably integral to the door. That isn't worth dealing with at this point.

I would check to make sure the strike is hitting the latch properly. Also make sure the latch mechanism is working properly.

I have the MAH5500BWW and the start/pause light just blinks and won't start the machine. I have replaced the control board and panel and it didn't fix the problem. When I put it in Service Mode, the door locks and everything works fine, but again, when trying to run a regular wash cycle it the pause/start light just blinks and doesn't start the wash cycle. Any ideas??

No one addresses door won't close

Will this part resolve an FL code on a Maytag Neptune Model # MAH5500BWW? It looks to be the same as in this video. Washer turns on and starts to fill, but then throws that error code and the door locks. Thanks!

FL is failed to lock, assuming you checked all the wiring and made sure the board is sending power to it, this is the usually the issue.
