As requested by some of our viewers, here is a tutorial on how to wear Imperial Japanese Army puttees. This is our first video of me using my voice so please excuse any mistakes or weird diction. Enjoy!

After years of European and American military reenactment, this is a very welcome change of pace and look into an area that has interested me. Keep it up!
I like how he does Japanese uniforms and stuff, I have never seen Japanese re-enactments but only American and British and German.

This is one of the best Puttee related videos it is really informative.
I have now watched everything on this channel. Now, I simply wish for more. Very underrated topic of JP kit and gear.
Can you do a detailed video on how to properly wear the Japanese helmet?
It is very interesting for me as a son of sergeant of Imperial Japanese Army.

I really want your help. I want to free Tibet from Communist china.
Great video. Keep up the good work, I really enjoy channels like this. Wish there were more channels that did a more interactive form like this on history information. Again keep up the good work.
TENNO HEIKA BANZAI!!!

How the Taco Pack comes together would also be really nice.
My friend asked his father in law how to put theses on, said in a split second he was half way up his leg. Then he stopped and said it gave him bad memories. He stated if they didn't get on the putties fast enough they would get beat.

Im glad you mentioned this. A lot of people don't realize that this video is instructional, thats why I am doing it slowly. As you said, soldiers would get punished if they were too slow and with them doing this nearly every day, they can be just as fast as an American soldier putting on his gaiters.

@@hattorihan7503I think that in youth organizations young boys had to already learn how to put puttees

Excelente video!!!!
So why a combat tie? I wonder did they sleep with these on? A lot of effort.
@hattorihan7503

Helps keep everything tight and in place when you’re doing a lot of movement during combat. If a soldier is in a setting where he can’t afford to take it off then he will sleep with it on.
Awsome
Is there any purpose to the combat tie other than the looks? regular tie on putties still holds great (atleast when hiking) just curious since it seems to be a japanese thing only, very nice video on how to tie putties in a good way cheers 🍻
Yo, nice Reenacting gear; I hope that you also fulfill your dream of obtaining a working Type 99(mg) by the way. Anyways, do you know where I could find the drill and tactical manual of the Imperial Japanese army? Thanks ^^
What is the purpose of the puttee?

great channel, where do you find this stuff?? is it original??
guêtres(巻き脚絆、まききゃはん)の装着方法!
Do you know what the pack system and items inside within the IJA in 1937? I’m trying to do a display for the Shanghai battle.
I reenact WWI AEF. These things can be such a pain but once you figure out how to do it right they should stay on all day. Just pray you don't have a rock in your shoe.
Sir, as a future IJA reanactor, I'd like to know, where did you find the boots? I can't find any online?
what kind of glasses frame would you recommend to use for IJA impression?
I'm curious would puttees cause restricted blood flow around the calves cos it looks tight
@hattorihan7503
You'd wrap it tight enough that it wont unravel and provides a good seal, while at the same time not tight enough so that it would not suffocate your calves.

Question, On the Japanese shovel, would the cord be used to tie the handle to the shovel head when digging ?
@hattorihan7503

The rope attached to the handle and shovel is mainly there to act as a sling so you can hang it around your back.

@@hattorihan7503 What keeps the head on the handle when you throw the dirt ?
@hattorihan7503

@@EdAtoZ You simply force in the wooden handle into the socket of the spade. Digging into hard ground helps wedge the handle even deeper into the socket so its not just gonna fly off

@@hattorihan7503 When compressing the shovel into the ground true, but the next step us to throw the dirt away. When thing are new the friction of the joint may work but after ware. I would thing that joint would not be that good when getting read of the old dirt.

@@EdAtoZ We've never had that issue when we were digging foxholes with it for a few hours. In fact it took a lot of force for us to separate the handle and spade.
Why was putte required? Could anybody explain please, thankyou

It's a cheaper way of keeping stuff from getting into your boots in comparison with tall jackboots plus if done right also prevents ankle injuries.
Hattori san please add more uniforms for Japan to wear most notably: SNLF Marine Kamikaze pilot IJN Sailor domo arigatogusaimasu
Are the firearms you use legit or reproduction?
no wonder they lost the war, it took them 3 years to get dressed!
This is waterproof...... No... In the word war one. In the trenches ... Trench foot.......
