Don't apply the wax in circles. Circles don't allow your hand to apply even pressure on the applicator pad, and that leads to uneven disbursement of the wax. Look at how the top of your swirls are whiter from more wax deposits and the bottom half of the swirls are darker from less. Apply in a north/south or east/west motion to avoid this. It also saves you more work during the buffing process.

When you using a woolpad on the paint its getting little scratches in de paint when used a rotary polisher like you have. But you need to step it up to a second polish with a DA to remove any scratches, swirls, hotburns, and give it a IPA wipe down before getting the wax going on.

You use the pad to remove any dust particles that might be on the car, you wash the car and drive it home were you are going to buff it so on that trip your car will have small traces of dust on it. And the second time you use the cloth is to remove lint from the buffing.

Michael Zak is correct....put polish on the cloth buffer to apply to the paint, then buff off (I do this by hand with a micro-fiber cloth) I then buff the polish with a difference cloth ''If needed'' and then apply wax and buff off by hand....do this panel by panel. What I usually do then is hit it up very gently By HAND over the whole car with a fresh microfiber to ensure I didnt miss anything ;) Just a tip! If your really motivated you can put two coats of wax on your car. I use turtle wax btw

Just had to ask why you had the cord rubbing the side of car and kept yanking on it shouldn't it have been over the shoulder out of the way. Why didn't you pop the hood to protect the edges when you were tilting the polisher when it was to be flat to avoid burning @ 2200 rpm,

That's only really necessary with high speed rotary buffers. The tool he's using is a random orbit polisher. The random orbital is designed to mimic hand movement. Although, when you get into something like a variable speed Porter-Cable 7424xp, yeah, I've burned through edges with that thing on speed 6. He'd have to sit on that edge for a week, with an aggressive pad, and compound to achieve strike through.

  • @opelpedia

Wax is not the same thing as polish! You get swirl marks from polishing your car and not holding the rotating head perpendicular to the paint and also using to high rpm on the polishing machine.

Thanks for the tip on always using gloves, though, it makes all the difference I'm sure. BTW, don't pay attention to the haters bashing you for dragging the cord of your buffer on the paint; paint is harder than the plastic of the cord. It won't scratch. It's called science, duh!

A foam heading is my personal favorite and it doesn't get as hot. But if you wax with the wool like he is just move the thing around with applying minimum to no pressure because it can burn the paint.

Most of the buffing, rubbing compounds are recommended to be used in shaded areas, specifically, when doing dark colored cars. Suggestion, watch the youtube instructions HOWEVER, you need to read the instructions on the product that you are planning to use.

This is a joke right??? I'm waiting for someone to jump out of the background and say, now this is exactly what you don't do and this is not the buffer you would ever use. I didn't even know they sold those cheap buffers anymore but may K-Mart does the last time I seen one they were $19.95 And they are not capable of removing ANY imperfections from the paint.

Its not meant to remove paint imperfections u ass clown its a wax job not a buff job,,Hes not cutting hes waxing idiot!

why put wax on then use a cutting wheel to buff it off, that pad is designed to cut the paint with polish, the wax is supposed to go on after to seal and protect the polishing stage, all this has done is mask the swirls & scratches with wax and then buffed with a machine instead of just using a cloth, strange technique, give it a couple of washes and it will look the same as before....

you use for too much wax, and you do not need to do small circles with paste wax.
