One point about breathability, goretex is breathable, like leather.... but when you paste wax all over the boot, you make it un-breathable..... any wax that soakes through the leather to the goretex layer, also stops that from being breathable too.... Little and often with good old kiwi boot polish will keep the boots waterproof and breathable!!

Very good video mate.... I never melted down the wax on a hob before but I tend to put plenty on and use the hair dryer and soft cloth rub it in.... Good stuff mate.

I scrub and brush the wax on.. And then use a hair dryer on a warm heat to melt it into the boots.... Quick and easy and it's been working for me for years.....

All other then using soap when washing them the video is good. The best to wash them with is for example saddle soap. Myself use nikwax first spray to saturate the leather then a thin nikwax oil then nikwax shoe wax and buff that inn. Good video mate.

I start preparing my boots from new a week before i even wear them, it has to be factory clean, bring them to room temperature and wax them, little heat from a blower until the wax melts then let the boots rest for a day or two to absorb the wax and start the process all over again, repeat 3 times then your boots ready for the first trip! Brian Please Dont use dish soap on Your Scarpas its to harsh it will dry the natutal oils in the leather, try something like Lexol leather cleaner/ conditioner . soap/ detergants disolve oils ,just warm water & a brush generaly work just fine. also dont forget to remove & wash the insoles , maybe a litle foot powder (anti fungil) its whats inside that counts. Happy Feet Bro!

Do you know of a good alternative to almond oil? My girlfriend is allergic to nuts. Would olive oil go rancid too quickly?

Good info for sure. Do you have a video making your own wax? I've made some greenland wax but that was just paraffin and beeswax, I'd be interested in seeing how you actually make your wax. Thanks for the great info and ATB.

I also like leather boots. If the weather is soaking wet for a long time I guess rubber boots is the only way to go. I have never used wax on mine, just greasy shoe shine. It has been working good as well :) Thanks - Martin

Brian, have you considered using a basting brush instead of a cloth when it comes to the liquid wax? 😁

Hey, I just wax my brown boots (casual) and now they're really dark. Does this fade back to their original colour or what? Sorry, I'm a noob.
