Great review. Many others are incorrectly telling people to have the 4K HDR format checked. This will force HDR on all content even if match dynamic range is turned on.

I was gonna post my settings but you have it correct. HDR only when it needs to and not always on. Also this way fixes the issue I had with HDR10+ being locked in for regular HDR10, after having watched an HDR10+ video.

Emby doesn't force hdr under mentioned in this video settings. You have to use Infuse instead.

Hi, My Samsung Tv is not playing HDR10+ when played from a removable storage. I have some HDR10+ videos in my hdd and connected it to the TV thru USB, upon playing the TV just shows HDR not HDR10+. Can you confirm is that the same with all the tvs by checking yours? For one video it showed HDR10+ for few seconds and then switched to HDR. Then it’s always showing HDR. Please check and reply. So I tried playing The Wheel of Time (Amazon Prime) directly from the native Samsung Tizen OS on my Samsung S95B and it streamed in HDR10+. So it looks like Apple TV is perhaps not doing any conversion or anything fancy, but there’s just more content now starting to be rolled out in HDR10+

HDR10+ which is specific to Samsung and some other brands. On Lg you are getting Dolby Vision which is similar to HDR10+ as both share dynamic metadata.

I’m considering getting a Apple TV. I want the best cinema experience. Should I get the LG C2 83 or A90J 83? And why?

No. If you turn off Dynamic Range matching and force HdR10+ on Apply TV video settings then you can get it but won’t recommend.

@@MyGadgetsWorld I'm not entirely certain that's the case. My Apple TV is set to 4K SDR and match dynamic range content and it looks like it's pulling an HDR10+ signal on Netflix and Disney. My Samsung is so old it doesn't give me an option to check HDR status.

It looks really good, Would be great if Samsung add the option to master automatically all the HDR standard content (from apps, bd disc's) to HDR10 + 😎🎥 I heard they implement that technology on 2023 📺

@@MyGadgetsWorld The 123 button on my Samsung Q90T just toggles between the 1-9 numbers menu, and an A-B-C-D menu with an info button. I’m not able to replicate the source menu you show in your video. If I select the info button in that A-B-C-D menu, it just closes the whole menu. This is with 3rd gen ATV.

I believe you can get HDR10+ on apple content using the Apple TV app in the samsung tv itself.

Is there HDR10+ on netflix or disney? i just hope apple tv will have a firmware that will sort out all hdr10+ in one section like disnep all DV or imax.feels like jist a gimmick of apple tv hdr10+ which there’s not alot movies supporting this anyway samsung hdr10 is very acceptable even without 10+

No, you don’t. As long as you have “match content” on “match dynamic range”. It will automatically adjust to the proper hdr content settings.

I have a Sony x900h and the new Apple 4k tv . Mines is coming up Dolby vision 4k. Is this better than hdr and sdr?

Are you talking about when connected with Apple TV 4K 3rd gen? Filmmaker mode doesn’t show HDR10+ you have to press Ok (center) button on the Samsung remote to see the status of HDMI.

Filmmaker mode does not display HDR/HDR10+ icon, other modes do like Movie or Standard. If you don't see the HDR or HDR10+ icon, than your are not getting HDR.

@@mohamedbhamani6555 honestly I don't think that's the case. You will tell. My tv pulls 1000 nits but with HDR it would only use half the nits. With HDR10 plus everything is bright because it can use the full amount of light. That's how I know it's working some scenes are much much brighter.

What about all the other APPs? Netflix, Vudu, Dis+?

One thing nobody mentions is they also convert everything on regular ATV+ app to HDR10+ So you don’t even need the box to get it in the app including any movies you buy

No you don't need this. HDR10+ content is available on the Apple TV app.

Samsung is a damn let down because it doesn’t support Dolby Vision. I have the QN90A and my Lg4k looks better in many movies due to the Dolby vision support. 😡
