Well done guys! Chris massive respect for opening up. I've been a long time fan of 44 & also a long time sufferer of my own mental health issues. Over the past 2 years & more you can't imagine how much your vids have been the highlight of my week / month... A distraction from the doom & monotony of what's going on around us. You touched on some poignant points in this vid and I can't commend you enough for having the balls to say this on camera. Too many suffer in silence until unfortunately its too late. @@RyanJM90 Nah! he does it all wrong, front to back too, always top to bottom. He also used the same sponge for the wheels, and still used it on the paint work, no professional valeter, let alone detailer. And this video is meant to be a tutorial he should do it right, and be clear when explaining.

That made my toes curl , posting a video on how to wash your motorcycle then going straight from filthy low down and dirty wheels up to paintwork .

He wore the beanie the whole time, what a champ! Love WD-40. San Diego company!

Cheers for this, especially the chain cleaning info. I’ve used chain cleaner and one of those chain cleaner brushes and I’ve never been able to actually get a clean chain, seeing the guy use an actual ton of chain cleaner and scouring pad has opened my eyes to what is actually required. Self teaching myself the small bike maintenance stuff is hard when people on KZread etc can’t do it to a professional level themselves. 👍🏻👍🏻

Surface rust isn't going to hurt your chain. What really matters is keeping the o-rings lubricated and some of the center bearings that contact the sprockets.

Just sell it when it’s dirty then buy a shiny new one job done

@@majordelays4909 I haven't washed a bike with anything but a light spray cleaner and a microfiber cloth in over 10 years, or a citrus cleaner and plastic razor for the really stuck on stuff. I never wipe the bike with the same cloth as the wheels, and use a specific brush and chain cleaner kit for the nasty stuff. Heavy scrub brushes or steel wool for the tires.. If I ever end up in a rain situation, I take the wheels off and clean the hubs and apply fresh lube to the axles and chain.

Love you guys.... but that is probably the worst "How to wash your motorcycle" advice video I've ever seen! Top to bottom and NEVER go from brakes to tank!!!! Part of me was thinking this was a wind up!!

Just to state the obvious, you clean the Chain then wheels then the swingarm to get all the wax off.... then wash the bike

When I saw my previous bike looking like new in the showroom I wondered how they got the exhaust collector box looking so good.

LCD cleaner from most pound shops does a great job of cleaning tft screens, plus tyre back to black is great wiped over black plastics used on wing mirrors and indicators.

Acid on the exhaust - no. Same sponge for the bodywork as the wheels - no. 1 bucket method - no. Washing in direct sunlight - no. How not to wash a bike.

you clearly don't understand much. Acid on the Exhaust - Yes...how do you think iron removers work? I think you need to brush up on your chemistry and how chemicals work on different contamination and surfaces . Same Sponge for bodywork and wheels - it can be done...you need to degrease and cleaner the wheels first before a mitt wash. 1 bucket - yes... Because 2 buckets means absolutely fuck all when it comes down to HOW much water you have, particle breakdown and bouyancy of particles . Washing in direct sunlight - it's unavoidable at times but as Spook says....keep the bike cool. I always love when a weekend warrior tries to dictate how shit should be done yet doesn't even do if right themselves! @@midenking9651 mad ego mate. Not all iron removers are acid based. And yeah you're correct that other things can be done if necessary but they clearly have the resources to have 2 buckets, a grit guard and some shade. All they're doing is showing you how to increase the risk of damaging your paint.

Always good idea to wash your bike or car in the sun! Especially having a tent nearby....

I've been using Autoglym instant show shine for 15 years now. Highly recommend it

Just a heads up... -always work from top to bottom (bottom will be dirtiest and will make it easy to scratch paint) -Cover or remove seats as water will help break down foam much faster and may develop mold - Use 2 buckets when washing (one for washing off larger dirt, other for finer material)

Cool trick with cleaning the exhaust ! I thought you just had to polish it out by hand. Shows how much I don't know. So is this new mid sized Aprilia rs660 in the works for demo by you guys soon I hope? ✌

although harpic does work, however, the type of acid used in it brings steel particles to the surface and causes more rusting.

And what bolt went missing on mine so far I have lost two screen bolts and the left grip bolt lol

"Never go in dry" 😅😂🤣. At about 6:55 I'm not a fan of throwing stuff away when you can reuse it. The rag that's used near the greasy areas such as the chain and bearings can be left to soak in fairy liquid or stronger soap. Wring it out and just reuse that cloth just for that particular area. A silicone dish washing pad can be reused for the chain instead of scotchbrite. If stuff like that is chucked away it'll just go straight to landfill, or even worse, the Oceans. It's pure joy riding around this Planet innit, well little things all add up to take care of it 👍

Harpic black works a treat on exhaust headers amd pipes 👍

7:54 that's about a fiver's worth of chain cleaner 😅

I always do the chain first (obviously) but also bug splatter remover for the front and degreaser on chain guard/wheels/frame first. Later it all comes off when you spray and rub in the soap rather. WD-40 to clean chain fling off the rear rim is very true

After washing always use ACF-50 all area's of electrical and where he used wd-40. I used jet wash coin operated versions, and it fubar my pc-3 on my 954RR Fireblade.

Aerospace 303 for dressing plastic with a matt finish 👍🏻

big tip< get a brush called an ez detail wheel brush. big wide and soft bristle and fits every where. game changer for bike wheels, saves so much time

I love the channel chaps , have been a subscriber from the start and possibly have watched all your videos . I'm not one for posting negative comments , if you've got nothing good to say , say nowt , and all that but , professional valeter , cleans bikes year in year out , knows how to do it right . I've never had a problem with a jetwash with the exception of a heated one taking some paint off a CBR400RR front mudguard. It was an import and the only time I've used a heated one if that made any difference.

​​​@@QuarantaQuattroin short, he cleaned the whole bike with a bug remover pad (might as well use sand paper) he also cleaned the front wheel and then onto the paint with the same pad, no pre wash, he had a 15 ltr bucket with 2 ltrs in it, no brushes, no APC, no ceramic coat, i clean my tires and thats how i spot nails and stuff

This a good video! No bs about Muc Off overpriced products. Just no nonsense WD40 and cleaning like a normal person would!

Pressure washer could bend the fins in the radiator, so don't push it up against the radiator to blast flys.

Best way to clean those Beamer screens is using tv LED screen cleaner - that works in a jiffy. Top tip!

I'm curious how the 44Team feels about ACF50 or if you've used it? It's a product I came to know through another youtube cleaning vid. Apparently used on planes to prevent corrosion.

XCP is proven to be better in tests by a long way. ACF 50 is good for electronic and inner trays. People blindly apply it without actually understanding or Protection on the right parts.

What’s the stuff u use on it? The spray stuff?

If I may add a top tip I got from the local suspension guru: after a ride clean the inner fork legs with a bit of silicone spray on a cloth (use brake cleaner on rotors if you're clumsy afterwards). The fork oil seals will thank you. (Good ol' WD40 is also good for this application, just don't polish them dry)

I only recently learned this while reading an Ohlins shop manual for my suspension. They suggest a thin film of WD40 after a wash or riding in the rain.

I learned this trick from mountain biking actually. Don't use regular lubricants because it may rot out the rubber seals on the lowers. Silicone spray is boss.

Brunox deo spray is the way to go for forks etc. Same effect as wd40 but not harming the rubber seals as do wd40.

so what was the exact acid with water mixture used for the exhaust?

Saw this video when it was new and I still don't know what type of acid he used. Can you please list it in the video description? Read lots of comments, funny, but haven't found it yet.

Phosphoric acid around 40% dilution. Heat will make the reaction work faster too.

When I put my tail tidy on I wrapped the back of the numberplate in some matte black vinyl, looks better and doesn't show when it's dirty.

Sorry buy never jet wash a bike! I took a large piece of paint off the front mudguard of a RG500 back in the day...I've never used one since. Jet washes are for HGV's and tractors not barely dirty bikes ;)

Wash top to bottom and use different cloths for the plastic and painted surfaces to wheels and engine surfaces, and never wash in direct sunlight you have a coverd area to your side use it
