I always hand wash my silk tops but never knew about using conditioner too. Great tips that I never about and shall try.

I thrifted this gorgeous leather jacket, I have not gotten to wear it yet solely b/c when I brought it to the dry cleaners he refused to clean it claiming "it was too delicate & he didn't want to ruin it" psshh. I would really love to get some tips on how to clean the inside of the coat as well as freshen up the outside. Also I have 4 velvet blazers & I wore 1 to christmas dinner & my lovely cousin touched it with food on her hands -_- needless to say I need tips on that as well.THANKS A BILLION

A delicate cycle on your machine with cold water and a very mild detergent. Once finished take it out and lie it flat in-between two towels for 15 minutes. Then remove towels and let it air dry. I have cleaned my silk velvet jacket for going on 8 years and it has never lost its nap or become crushed looking.

Washing it with mild shampoo might help but don't soak it for long. air dry is must.

Does polyester fit under the silk category?

That's what I want to know because my karate uniform is made of polyester and it costs too much to keep taking it to the cleaners.
