I have found with traditional top freezers that storing my vacuum sealed meat in plastic baskets eliminates puncturing and freezer avalanches too. Plus I have one basket for fish, 1 for pork, 1 for venison, etc.
Steve, Could you please do a video on your methods for using wax freezer paper and saran warp for red game meat? Many thanks, _Steve

Yeah, I would like that too! Never heard of freezer was paper... I still sie vacuum bags.
I really appreciate the tips you have give us. So many times people just give the basic but not good tips like these.
Thru trial and error i have came across the same issues. Your tricks n tips are exactly the same as i have used for many years now. Glad to see like minded folks utilizing the best methods of saving your food!!!
this is the video ive been hoping for cheers steve
Great tips! I've used many of the same strategies. I'm not sure that I've ever left the paper towel inside the bag after sealing it but have definitely swabbed & double sealed when it pulled moisture past the first seal. I've also started double sealing the other end before I put meat inside (I use rolls that can be cut to custom size bags) to make sure both ends of the bag get sealed well.
Nice job Steve. I've been loving these burst of short videos. I always put two seals just to be safe. Take it light bud.

+Rick Melebeck I have also come to realize that the ready made bags (like quart and gallon size bags) make a much better seal than the rolls that you make your own bags with. I'm over the rolls.
really really good stuff here....podcast on waterfowl steve! please
awesome, this is very good advice!
Been using the paper towel trick for years. Works like a charm.
A friend taught me with fish put fill et in zip top freezer bags fill 3/4 the then fill with water until fish is covered. zip it freeze it and it will last forever.
Hello Steve. About the moisture. Lavavac makes a plastic thing that works like your paper, but better. When i vacuum cod and halibut i put a layer or 2 of paper inbeetween each layer of filet while im fileting . When i vacuum i remove the paper and put the filet in a bag and vacuum. If it still is to wett i Will putt a peze of lava mistureseal in the bag. IT will last several years if kept in peace. Always use a mascine whit 2 or more welds
I have to try out that paper towel trick. It's such a simple solution I can't believe I haven't thought of it on my own. I was doing that cleaning and resealing but it can be a huge pain.

Been doing it for years it always works ever if you have more fluid in blanched veg it works good luck
Get yourself a chamber vacuum sealer and I think you will change your mind about vacuuming sealing red meat and the bags cost way less than a food saver type bag or saran wrap and freezer paper.
Does anyone use Saran Wrap and vacuum seal it? Pros and cons anyone? Or any other method to double protect their game meat? I'm new to hunting and I'll be going this November on my first hunt so I'm researching every little part of it. Just don't want to waist any meat. Thanks in advance
I have been doing the paper towel way for years works each time
great video . Question , we travel in an rv and refrigerator space is limited. I was told that you can fry a hamburger , let it cool, and vacuum seal it and just store it in a cupboard . I see they are doing this with precooked bacon now. wouldn't that work for precooked meals and store for maybe a month

Yes works for pre cooked meals
I don't have a vacuum sealer but I take normal freezer bags and I'll use my mouth to suck them closed. It's not perfect but it looks and abd feels vacuumed sealed.
Any recommendations on vacuum sealers in 2021?
I hate those "skanky fish!"
You also have to be careful with meat that has a bone in it. When the bag draws in a sharp edge can puncture the bag. I try to cover these edges with paper towel or butcher paper.
i have that sealer. love it, but buy the replacement no stick tape from china!
Bag leakage is bound to happen when your handling your meat in the freezer, at least thats what my doctor said...
Main take-away: a tight seal is good!

Eleonora Vignato three years later and your KZread channel doesn’t really have much. Where might one go to see some of these recipes you spoke of?
What about defrosting?
Skanky fish. Haha 😂
The vacuum sealer at my restaurant never fails and we abuse the shit out of those bags
if you dont want to wait the 20 seconds you can buy new elements for 5$ easy to change
Get a commercial vacuum sealer not that crap
