I've been thinking about getting combs to replace my old carders. You've pretty much ended the internal debate with your clear demonstration. I gotta have a pair of combs! Thank you.

Wonderful video! Thank you so much. I'm working on a final project for a history class-- I chose to compare early modern wool working to modern. I've never had to use combs before so I appreciate the instruction!

This was SO SO SO cool! Thank you! I'm going to head to search your collection for how to wash and prepare the fiber, as I was gifted some Yorkshire llama fiber that has not been processed at all.

Hi Thanks for the video it will help me when I show the lady's at the weavers ,spinners and chef's how to use the combs. I've only tried them once before and wanted to see the best way to use them. Thanks again I shall point out your videos to the lady's also so that they can also learn from you. Have subscribed and looking forward to learning more Sheila

Thank you for this. This was a great refresher for me. Nearly 30 years ago(!) I took a class with Celia Quinn, and bought a gorgeous set of 5 pitch Meck English combs. I want to use them again, and your video was the perfect reminder of the motions etc.

Huge thank you for your clear demonstration on using combs. I am a new spinner and new to fleece preparation so I am desperate for information! I've managed to make a small pile of candyfloss Portland fleece, am delighted!

Does this method work with finer, more slippery fiber like alpaca?
@waitingforit3386 Жыл бұрын
So you don’t pick the fiber first? That’s where I went wrong

Can the fuzzy leftovers be carded into rolags? Or are they more for stuffing ?

Yes, they can be used in that way -- and for things like felting, making dryer balls, and, as you say, stuffing. Birds love them, too, at nest-making time! It's definitely not waste. At worst, it can go into the compost heap and replenish the soil. 😀
