How to use Variables in Shortcuts App on Mac

🎬 Elevate your online presence with The Take One Tech Academy www.takeonetech.io/academy
In this, the third in a series of videos about Shortcuts App on Mac, I show why you need to know about variables and explain what they are.
I show how to ask for an input from a user and use that in a later action. I first do this using the magic variable method that is available in Shortcuts, but then also explain why it is better to use named explicit variables.... something that is essential later in the series when we are creating more complex shortcuts.

Very easy to understand! For some reason I am a huge user of Keyboard Maestro, to the point that Iit says it's saved me 17 months of my life, but I never properly taught myself Shortcuts for Mac and iOS. Subscribed! (Also, you should consider doing keyboard maestro content.)

Do you have a video about regex group to variable? Looking to convert a UTC sting to PST datetime that is embedded in a file name.

Hi Alec, I’m no expert on shortcuts or programming so I’m wondering what is the benefit of adding the extra variable actions when you can rename the Magic variables instead and keep the shortcut shorter and tidier?

Hey! Do you know where to get the device hostname? I thought it might be how I called my device, but I've tried, and it didn't work. Would appreciate your help, thanks!
