Mr. Shamshiri, I truly enjoy your videos with the thought process, planning and the abundance of information you provide. After all, it takes work to video, edit and review your work and I find it flawless. Even corrections. I have an entire line of cordless tools for sears back when I could work. I am prepared to disassemble and pass judgment on each cell. How or what math is used to determine the current to charge cells the show promise? A dead battery is dead, but unless it has a dead short internally, it has a chance to live again. I take the numbers stamped on the shrink wrap and research to find voltage but aH info. I can not order every single cell ti fix each battery pack as it would be cost prohibiting for my wallet. But having 9 perfectly good tools sitting on the shelf does me no good. Automotive ASE Master Tech since 1978-Retired I have already used your excellent product testing videos to pick two modules to purchase. Thank you again!

Mr. Kay, I am pleased that you like my tutorials. Yes indeed for each video there is lots of efforts. Very few such as yourself know this. first of all battery capacity and charge parameters are the most tricky part of working with them. The charge current is determined by the manufacturer of the battery. charging above the rated current will reduce the battery life. So you have to find the datasheet. for example for the Panasonic battery shown in video here is the datasheet www.batteryspace.com/prod-specs/NCR18650B.pdf and it says the the standard charge should be about 16550mA. or lower. I have spoken about battery protection in this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZZiro5p6aLnYoqg.html so generally for less than 10Ah batteries, always go 0.5 of capacity or lower to protect it.

@@robojax Thank you again so much for the reply. I will identify and look for data sheet & their recommendations. I have never posted a video on youtube, but have a great understanding on lighting, camera angle or position, just a lot. This is basics, but you go a long way to provide information at least I find extraordinary and as accurate. You have my total respect in your total presentation. My last job had me holding automotive technical 4 hr. seminars for 20 to over 100 each night during a whole week in a different town or city. So the old “Dog & Pony” show. Taking photos, screen captured from a lab scope or scan-tool to use these in the power point was not in the job description. But the presentation had diagnostic holes in it, large enough to drive a truck thru. Advanced Charging systems, Serial Data (6 types in GM vehicles), etc. Magneto-Reological-Fluid used in struts in place of traditional oil and valving found in a common shock. Called “Active Ride Control” and other terms, but basically tiny metal particles suspended in oil. When a magnetic field is applied at a variable rate, change at 2mS changes from a thin less viscous oil to a rigid hard non-fluid material. This was started in suspension in 2004 Corvette. Acura used it in rubber motor mounts. When ran on a dynamometer, the vibration generated on up shifts, down shifts, all parameters, they mapped the dial-in amperage required was downloaded into a EEPROM and allowed later to change the ride feel, smooth, sport, racing anything they wanted. So, electronics coupled with mechanical applications is amazing. So a basic understanding was needed to pass along to guys/gals who may have to work around these or replace them, then recalibrate. Total electric vehicles make no noise (Very Little) but I joked two decades ago that waterproof speakers could be added to allow the driver to turn a knob to make it sound like a hot rod V8, 10 cylinder Viper or a loud 4 cylinder w/turbo. No, people on phones walk into streets and get hurt or killed. Laws maybe passed requiring them to make noise. The possibilities are endless. Just sharing as the guy who makes a simple kit can patent this (Installed by customer on older vehicles) but make millions, if a manufacture buys the patent or the rights with a percentage for license for each one sold/used. It’s a gold rush, but few would think of it or pursue it. I have ideas. Ok, enough. Blessing to you & loved ones! Thank you again. I could be reached as I am just working on my own old truck for me. A project to keep both hands & mind working at 62. Stay safe!

Hello, Mr. Kay, You are welcome and I am glad you like my tutorials. You've got so much experience. wow. I've read your comments and enjoy them. To make electric cars noise, many states have considered/did pass legislation to to make it mandatory to have noise added. I am not sure if it has been implement or not. I want to replace a 9 volt battery with a 18650 pack. I'm wondering if I should use 2-3 18650 batteries in series? Should I use a single 18650 and a boost board? Or maybe two parallel 18650 batteries and a boost board for more capacity? I want to leave the battery in circuit with charger connected. Thus, I want a circuit that safely protects from over-charge or under-discharge. Do you recommend parallel charging 18650's? Thanks for any help.

Hello, yes you do as many parallel so you like. But remember the amount of current this module supplies stays the same so the time will take longer. inf your case it will take twice as long to charge. if you use 1s3P, then the 2A from this charger will be divided to 3 and it will take 3 times as long to charge them.

this is BMS. you BMS h as protection. But can't control the current as to how much should go to your battery. this module can allow up to 2A. but if you connect a small battery with capacity of for example 500mAh and charge it with 2A, it will get damaged. So you need to connect a power source to this with controlled current (ampere). that's why connected your charger that controls the maximum current. An example of a charger would be a step down converter with constant Voltage (CV) and constant Current (CC). So you set the output of that to 8.4V (for charging two cells) and set the current to 200mA or whatever value your battery require. if allow more charge current that your batter require, battery get damaged. So find out about your battery's charge current. Good luck

Parallel is not a good idea but it work. why not good idea? over time modules change the output voltage a little. that little variation in voltage causes the current to flow from ONE into the OHTHER and that is waste of energy. Very few like less than 0.1% of people will configure this for higher current.
