You could go home and print your labels/postage.

I had avoided these before today because I wasn't sure what to do and I never saw anybody using them. I'm glad I took the time to figure it out and know now I can mail packages any time of day and not have to work around the usps office hours

It is convenient, I used one in Florida once when the counter line was 15 people long. A couple of people left the line to watch and give it a try.

Shoot, I can't even FIND the post office let alone use one of those things!

@@kaye4469 Buy a postal scale from Ebay or Amazon, and keep boxes on hand for when you need them. It's an investment that lasts a lifetime. Those Priority boxes at the post office are free, just grab a few extra. Keep boxes you receive, flatten them, and recycle them to use when you need a box to mail something.

I don't think we have one at our local post office. Really neat that you do. Have a wonderful day.

Does the kiosk give you an option to write the return address on the label or does one fill that out manually after it prints?

You could have saved a few dollars if you use one of the usps boxes provided free of charge on the stationary shelf next to the self service machine. Postage is cheaper if you use the USPS boxes

There is a search function at usps.com to find nearest one. Very few in my area.

So I take it there is a size restriction to this. There's not a secondary option if the package wouldn't fit in the box? Good video, thanks!

oh - packaging being there for free... - Not expected that. In all the german post offices it's there to purchase - and that doesn't even include postage... But I somehow liked that the machine went out of order during the video.

does it work for international ?

So just the printed out label (from kiosk) with the recipient address is fine? No need to write their name/address or my info on the package itself?

The machine prints the address n the sticker, unless you choose the small sized postage only sticker.

I see we’re only able to use cards, correct me if I’m wrong. Would I be able to go to the self service kiosk, package the item using the materials they provide, but not print a shipping label until later at home via the paypal/usps (click n ship) shipping label thing? I have a ton of orders coming in next week and it would just be way easier on me to pull them straight from my paypal transactions.

Yes, card only. They have free priority & flat rate boxes you can take home. All post offices offer those.

So I just returned from my post office and the menu is a bit different from this one. Probably updated I’m sure. Anyway, I tried using it and it never asked for my buyers name. Just zip code, address city and state. Then asked if I wanted to purchase. I didn’t want to hit buy and it not have my buyers name on it. Left frustrated.

If you have a prepaid label, you don't need to use the kiosk. Just drop it in the bin.

Better bring a pen because this process does not allow you to put the recipients name or the return address on the label.

What ever happened? I dropped mine off Monday now it’s Wednesday and it still says awaiting

FOUR DAYS and counting tracking still says "USPS has received electronic notification from our Self-Service Kiosk (SSK) in (Town and State on Date) to expect your item for mailing." I dropped it off and it claims it is STILL WAITING FOR THE ITEM! Now I have to check every hour for status. NEVER AGAIN! I WILL WAIT IN LINE THAN SUFFER LIKE THIS!

You may already know this a year later, but there is an option to scan pre-paid label, do the no prohibited items confirmation, scan your barcode, and either finish or continue with any additional packages. Then your receipt can be printed or emailed to you.

The kiosk charges you the full retail price for postage. Wouldn't it be smarter to print your postage at home and get the Commercial Base discount?
