    There is a hidden trick function inside the camera where many people don't know ;that is : Press the Marco Button and press the front ring at the same time, which the snap distance could be swiftly changed by rotating the front ring while your camera is in the position of snap mode. It is really helpful especially at the street photography shooting.Check it out.

    Great tutorial, I liked the explanation of how to use at night, i.e about the smaller aperture and extra distance. I also liked the way you used snap with foreground blur through the shop window. This one video I think really explains why the GR series rock!! Snap focus is so simple but so empowering, but I can imagine purists disagring with me, may be. Just my opinion. Excellent video. I do have a question and I hope you reply. Does a camera feel like a durable piece of equipment or does it feel a bit cheap. I'm really considering purchasing one of these GR3's. Do you recommend a screen protector for the screen?

  • @EYExplore

    @EYExplore

    3 жыл бұрын

    I feels very durable. I beleive the interior is made of magnesium alloy, which is a very tough and light material also used in pro SLRs. It's not weather-sealed though as far I'm aware. But it certainly does not feel cheap. I think a screen protector is a good idea since you'll often keep it in your pocket. I don't use one and over the years on my GR II I have gotten some scuffs and blemishes on the screen, but nothing major. I believe the GR III uses tougher gorilla glass like many smartphones do, since it's also a tough screen.

    I thought I mentioned it, but basically, doing the full pres requires some concentration to make sure I don't half-press by accident. This is not a big deal, but if I KNOW I'm going to be using snap focus for some scene, I prefer to just have it on and not worry about it. It's just a matter of preference. • @EYExplore

    @EYExplore

    When snap focus is enable, then half-pressing the shutter does nothing (though it might lock exposure, not sure) and a full press takes the photo. The difference is that you don't have to mash the button down quickly, as you do in full-press snap. I think both modes have their place. I use both, depending on the situation: full-press snap when I'm caught off-guard, and regular snap when I'm anticipating the shot more.

    When you turn on snap focus, it just works no matter how you press the shutter button. Half-pressing does nothing (though it might lock exposure, I'm not sure). This is why I like to have it on. It takes away the 'pressure' of using full-press snap. Altough I love how 'available' full-press snap is, especially when I need it all of a sudden!

    Late answer but might explain to others. You need to be in aperture priority or manual mode and set your aperture manually. So you'd set it to F2.8 and you can set whichever distance you like with the snap focus. You can use either manual or automatic ISO. Iirc lower limit for the 3x is 100 and upper limit 102000? I don't have my cam in the hands now, but you can easily Google this information toi

    Great Videos as usual ! thanks a lot Lukasz, I have learned a great deal thanks to your eyexplore videos and Rocih ones ! I had a question though, what is the difference between Zone focusing and Snap mode ? isn't it pretty much the same ?

  • @EYExplore

    @EYExplore

    3 жыл бұрын

    Essentially, Snap focus is zone focusing. It's the same thing. The difference is how you interact with the camera as a tool. When I use my SLR with a manual lens, I turn the focus ring to set the zone. The GR is very small and has no focus ring, so you control the zone by selecting it in the camera. I recently figured out that if you hold down the Macro button on the rear of the camera, you can select your snap distance (i.e. your 'zone') by turning the top command dial. I had the camera for nearly 4 years before I figured this out!! :)

    I was looking for a video on snap focus. I am having problem with it. F/8, S/200, ISO/1600 full press snap focus mode @ 1m distance. Still having blurred image. What could be the reason?

  • @EYExplore

    @EYExplore

    3 жыл бұрын

    At that distance the DOF is very very shallow even on f/8, so you have to really nail the distance. That's in the case of focus blur, but if you mean motion blur, then you just have to increase the shutter speed. For moving subjects at that distance 1/200 is not really that fast.

  • @TheNowsher

    @TheNowsher

    @@EYExplore My subject wasn't moving fast. Subject distance was approximately 15ft. I guess DOF is the problem.

  • @EYExplore

    @EYExplore

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@TheNowsher Well, if your snap focus distance is 1m at f/8, you get a zone that's from about .8m to 2.5m. 2.5m is equal to approx. 8 feet. So if the subject was 15 feet away, then they were totally out of your selected snap focus zone!

    The camera will automatically take a picture at a set focal distance when you fully press the shutter button. You can set it to 1m, 2m 5m - this means you don't have to wait for the autofocus.

    I'm not sure what you mean. You just set it to 400. On M you can set the shutter speed however you like by using the command dial on the top-rear of the camera. You can do it whether snap focus is on or off.

    I too had this same decision to make with the X100F and GR II a few years ago. I chose the GR and I think I made the right choice. I wanted a camera that's very small and portable. While the X100 is pretty small, it's still much bigger than a GR. The GR has probably the best 'performance-to-size ratio' of any camera. :)

    Actually I explain this in this video at about 1:40. Full-press snap is just about how you access snap focus. It does the same thing as regular snap focus. It's just a shortcut. :)

So from what my understanding is that full press snap is when you press halfway first then press the shutter, the camera will use autofocus.
