I just used a 906 as a Single Over-Head on a 'Punk/Rock/Pop' Drum Kit....(split the Ride/Crash Cymbals, centered over KICK Drum, w/flat EQ setting on Mic.., easy with the Gate, High Pass the EQ@200z , Light Compression to Taste....) Try It... As a 'Budget Minded' Engineer, I found the Diaphragm to be Large/Robust enough to handle the LOW Freq for the Toms, AND 'Delicate' enough to deal with the High, Transient Cymbals/Snare/Hat... It's WAAY Cheaper the an AKG 414 with Almost the Same sized Diaphragm...

Do you make some post eq? I always have too much low end if mic live. I have always to remove lows from eq even when the amps sound good in the room

nothing beats sm57. just my two cents
