Just started at McDonald’s today and the hardest part is finding everything on there. Like in my location all of the new freezes are under LSM like put it under McCafé and then I’d remember it maybe

This thing is really outdated! With today’s technology, they could come up with something like a microphone that listens to the customers order then it shows up on the screen and all you have to do is read their order back to them to make sure nothing’s wrong. The system is not beginner friendly.

Customers are a bit pushy too but don't forget to keep calm and ask for help. Got hired first day of January this year, been my 4th day and worked as a cashier. I was very fortunate in having a former underclassmen of mines back in high school training me on how to make frappes, coffees, register, etc. I do enjoy doing this job besides lunch hours, but it does give me a massive boost of confidence that I can accurately take orders and be more time efficient with everything that's going on. What makes it fun was the customers who have conversations with me and they would always compliment me. McDonalds is a great first job and one of the best to gain work experience. Might stay at my McDonald's for around 3 years and see how it rides out. But other than that, it is not that bad afterall. Glad to be apart of the business since I am a fan of the fast food company. P.S. Great video! I did learn a lot from both parts of your McDonald's POS video and found out where mostly everything is. I would recommend this to a new employee if I were to be the one training them haha. Love the help you bring to us new employees who want a challenging and a great learning job!

Kimberly Castro idk if you figured it out yet or not but they either put you on service or cook so if you’re on cook that’s just making burgers and nuggets and stuff and service is register drinks fries and dining so you don’t do both roles and every shift they will put you on something different but if you’re a cook you’ll never do register

The first day, they just had me handling the cash in the drive thru. The second day, they just threw me in the front. I just kept calm and asked for help everytime I needed it. I warned them that I'd need excessive help because they didn't train me.

McDonald's menu now has 145 items on it...up from 85 in 2007. That's a lot to remember.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate you positing this video. Today was my first day at McDonalds and I felt pretty lost using the POS system. I understand it can be busy to work and train someone else at the same time, so its great to have this extra assistance. :)

I worked my first shift yesterday took a lot of L's Edit: It's pretty easy. Just make sure you keep yourself busy no matter what, if that means cleaning up a clean lobby, so be it. Just stay busy. Another Edit: I got my first Karen, she was a dick.

Best thing is keep asking question never hurt to ask for help. What I do is whenever there's no customers I review all the stuff on the POS so I'll be familiar with it and know where everything is. Good luck you got this. It get easy afterward

Cprhoff1 I was not trained on register. It was the old pos version before these new pos version. Took me 5-10 minutes to figure it out. This was like in 2007 to 2010. I was also a crew trainer after several months.

Ive been working at mcdonalds for a month now as a part timer and i gotta say, there are times when u can get stressed out when its busy, but when its not busy, its all good. My managers are chill and work with me. They put me on grill regular menu so i drop the patties and every type of chicken. Thank god they didn’t put me on drive thru or front cashier!

I started working at McDonald's for less than a week, and WOW does it get really busy!! this is my first fast food restaurant job by the way, and I have no prior experience whatsoever... yesterday I was working at the front counter, and at my location we currently have the all day breakfast sales, plus the $1, $2, and $3 deals. it does get confusing having to tab in and out between lunch and breakfast, so I always have trouble finding items... watching this video has certainly help me feel a little more comfortable ;w; it's funny and educational. thank you so much for making this video!!! and for those who are barely learning the POS system, good luck ^_^ you'll get the hang of it. always ask questions from your coworkers and managers...

It’s much, MUCH easier than it looks. All you have to do is know where everything is, and know what you have to tap.

I had great training at my location, one co worker did get a bit annoyed by me asking so many questions, but remember, you are NO help if you DO NOT know what you're doing. ALWAYS ALWAYS ask questions, even if you already asked it. Honestly the POS system gets easier because it's very repetitive. I would really only worry about focusing on how the customer is phrasing their order. I had someone ask for a sausage egg muffin with no egg.... What they really wanted was a sausage muffin...same thing but cheaper. Just pay attention, and be friendly. Remember the customer is always right, even when they're wrong. Today was my first day, and I got most of it down, I think tomorrow I want to focus on how to make the drinks (mostly coffee because thats hard af for me personally) Also another thing I have trouble with is remembering whats in combos XD for example we have a three dollar bundle, but I lowkey keep forgetting whats in the three dollar bundle. GOOD LUCK (Great video, you helped me understand what to do when we f up orders, but i wish you went over grill, thats still complicated for me. XD)

This video bring back so many memories good and bad. I started working at McDonald’s February 17, 2018, to July 17, 2018, long story short nothing but pure hell.

Wow! When I worked at McDonald's in 1978, we had old-fashioned registers. You had to read a tax chart and count out change. At the end of your shift, they'd count out your drawer. If you came up short, the amount was deducted from your pay. If you came up short three times, you were either made a cleaner if they needed one, or you were given the chance to quit. If you made them fire you, it'd be 'for cause,' meaning you couldn't get unemployment. I quit after five weeks because the owner was a creepy nut job who called female workers bitches, regularly cursed out teenaged kids, and for whom the crew were supposed to lie if his wife called or showed up. He was about 50 and banging a 17 year old who worked there.

Fat Ass Booty Finished my first day today and it does. They have green buttons that have fixed amount such as "Exact change", "5 payment", 10 and 20. The nwhe you proceed to Heck out with the take-out or eat-in buttons it will tell you on the left hand side above "End of Sale"

Funny how fast food workers are often denigrated with comments like "Go to college or you'll be working at McDonald's." Working at McDonald's or any other fast food restaurant is hard work and there is probably just as much information to learn and master as there is in most office jobs.

I've been on the register for three weeks about 3 or 4 days a week, but I am not a visual learner. It is very difficult for me to know where a certain item is. I was really looking for legible pictures of the fourteen + screens that I could study. My hours have been shortened the last couple of weeks so I am concerned that I might not be progressing as quickly as others.

I work at the great mcdonald’s.We have a separate paid orientation for an hour where we learn the rule,meet our main manager,do paperwork and get our uniform .Then we have a 4 shifts of training with a crew trainer.They tell us the etiquette and give us a quiz on what to do then we start on fries.They teach us how to do it then we do the rest.When the restaurant gets slow we would use separate rags to clean the chairs and the tables.I was taught how to do the cashier that night.It was tricky but my crew trainer is so nice and helpful and i got through the shift.Mcdonald’s if a good place to have a first job.Ps I work at a mcdonald’s in Australia soo.

I recently applied to McDonalds and I had my interview today. I was super nervous. I was literally going over the questions they would ask me until a guy that worked there told me to just be myself. He also told me the type of question they would ask so I kinda relaxed a little bit. it was alright i wish they would have told me to bring my social security card so they can do my background check. Other than that the interview was alright. i was excited and this video is going to help me alot. :)

Second day training on drive thru. I’m so stressed. This POS is SO busy and I don’t know the menu at all. My first day i took 5 orders completely on my own, a lot more supervised. I only have 5hrs ‘training’ total after tomorrow morning. I keep messing up orders! And i CANT HEAR the customers clearly at all :,( and I’m expected to start working next week.

Cprhoff1 i didn’t get any sleep at all stressing about it but the day actually went so well!! I worked alone for a couple hours and only needed help for some stuff going on with the store I’m at. This video helped me review, so thank you! I took screenshots of what i could bc learning the menu is my main concern rn :p

@@noaulufale no, but i just charge it myself. For example, if their total was 17.38 and they paid with 100, i charge it out of 20 and do the change correctly

Ty for sharing this! It helped me alot! Today was my 3rd day. I haven't worked drive thru ever in my life til now and I'm 43 yrs old. I have been put on window 1 lane 1 so it's very challenging to say the least. Getting to know the screen by heart is crucial so you aren't overwhelmed by order taking and handling cash. Hopefully things get better...I'm not really being properly trained so I'm winging it on my own and need all the help I can. I appreciate your video!!!

started my first day and e learning yesterday. for most of the day i was on a computer in the break room just like going through health and safety and all stuff. took me about 2 hrs. then i had my break which was like a hr and a half cuz ur man that was like kinda training me forgot so i was just on my phone the hole time which was gran cuz i was getting paid for it ahaha. then i had some more e learning to do for about 15 mins. then he brought me out to the till and he showed me how to work the til and i think ik how to now but i swear there’s sum pricks of customers but it was very quiet inside cuz the corona virus but the drive through apparently was so busy but i wasn’t on drive through so idk. since it was so dead and my training guy went home about a he b4 me like he didn’t say anything. he just left and then i was just standing there by the til. about 20 mins later i just went back to the break room cuz no one was there and this manager one snapped at me about having my phone and not being out on the floor and then after that she kept going at me for like learning against the wall and all that shit. then she told me to help stock up like the dips and stuff and she went somewhere then and i was so confused so i just stood there again confused but then dis other girl showed me how to work the till even more so thx to her and i took 2 orders i think then i finally got to go home at 7. i’m worried about today i go in again at 2 and it’s 12 now and idk how to clock in like they didn’t tell me anything about today like do i just go straight to the til or what’s the story like ugh

Did you quite? I was put on drive thru and ive been stressed out bc they want me to be fast and make drinks at the same time, i cant remember how to make Frappe, Ice coffee, etc. If i make a mistake i usually a big talk or cut my hours. I want to quit but I’m saving up money for my new iphone

Ashley • no i didn’t quit i just started working again today cuz we were closed for like a month and a half cuz of the corona virus in ireland. all i did today was just sanitizing door handles and tables over and over for like 6 hrs. my fav thing to do is taking orders at the drive thru but i wasn’t put on dat so hopefully the next day i will. and i never got taught how to make any drinks or food so i don’t hav a clue about that. are you quitting?

No i didn’t, i kinda gotten used to drive thru and know how to make the drinks but cant remember how to make iced coffee (since they made it fast) anyway the only i dont like about the drive thru is how they cant seems to turn off their engine, like I’m trying to make a nice conversation here and sometimes theirs always a costumer that adds this and removed that, once i asked for the costumer to repeat what he/she/them say the manager or a coworker listen to me when I’m taking orders corrects me.. and then their voice collapse and i didn’t hear shit 😑. The manager had me do that too once for like 3h, i kinda dont mind but have mixed feelings about since i have to clean the freezer

Hey. I really need help with understanding when to use the grill and when to use the cold or warm water functions. My crew trainer is very rude and not patient with me. This crew trainer just took me to the registrar for the first time and she just explained it once (only 2 hours training). Also, has no manners and does not give a shit about me. Is it possible if you could explain how to use them. Why don't they give an online training of using the cashier registrar? At least an online game training, instead of embarrassing the trainee front of the customers.

The only time you use the grill button is when the ask for something taken off of their burger or something xtra on their burger. As for the warm and cold water functions im not too sure. We dont have that. Im sorry that your trainer was rude and I wish the best for you!

Working with McDonalds...i learnt this skill of using pos within 1 month and also promoted very soon...great to work with this...

When I first started here my only problem was getting salads. I never knew that you had to press the button twice on mcvalue. It straight up took me two weeks to find that out 😂😂

Daeja TOO Legit click on the burger and then once it’s selected you should see buttons at the top which say no, add/extra and only. Click the no button and select cheese :)

This vid was pretty helpful. Similar to a lot of people, surprisingly, they just threw me on the drive threw window my first day, and the guy that they had training me, didn’t do a very good job. I’m decent with doing the money part of it but ordering the peoples’ food is still very difficult. But I’m glad to know I’m not alone with not knowing what I’m doing so I think I’ll be watching this video a few more times before I go back to work in a few days. Wish me luck

Lmao my first day they had me on grill and actually had someone training me and I got the hand of it easily so my second day I was quickly shown the buttons and watched the girl do 2 orders as an example then they just left me by myself the entire 7 hours, I had to keep running up to someone and ask for help. I felt really bad about it but then people where I live are boujee and do really complicated orders to a simple McChicken so now I’m confused on how to sub and change basically the whole order. Hopefully tomorrow they’ll have someone to train me.

So uhh I am 14 just started my 4th day of training today, and it's the last round it was stressful but the trainer helped Me, My official work will be 2 days from today, I am freaking scared, and I am probably the youngest WORKING in mcdo right now. Everyone in the comments are complaining about not having a trainee helping you guys, and I hope for y'all' s best

Update I’ve been working there for about a month and a half, still feel the newbie vibe but everyone loves me and I love everyone ! I’m a highschool student so I’m balancing both and honestly my mangers are great at handling that , I love it !! Just don’t get too over whelmed
