    I’m looking to get one soon and it’s very confusing to me as well. I’ve embroidered for 15 years and used the “pulse” program so I’m familiar with the tools and toolbar it’s the settings I’m confused on. I’m the type that if I get frustrated and can’t figure it out, I usually give up

    IT SEEMS THAT THIS GUY AND A COUPLE OTHER PEOPLE REALLY KNOW ABOUT LASERS AND HOW TO USE THEM IN THE CORRECT MANOR, IT SEEMS MOST PEOPLE EITHER DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT OR THERE TECHNIQUES SUCK OR DONT WORK AT ALL, I HATE THE LIARS THAT CLAIM THEY ENGRAVED A LARGE DETAILED IMAGE IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS, I WAS READING AN ARTICLE LAST NIGHT, AND THAT GUY WAS SO FULL OF IT, HE HAD A DETAILED WOLF COMING THROUGH SOME TREES ON A 6 X 11 INCH PIECE OF SLATE, AND CLAIM HE DID THE COMPLETE IMAGE IN UNDER 7 MINUTES, WITH A 7 WATT LASER, I HAVE A 20 WATT AND ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO ENGRAVE THAT FAST, I HAVE WASTED A LOT OF TIME TRYING WHAT THOSE SO CALLED EXPERTS CLAIMS WORKS, THIS GUY AND A COUPLE OF OTHER PEOPLE REALLY KNOW QUITE A BIT, I HAVE NOTICED THAT EVEN THE PEOPLE WORKING FOR LIGHTBURN LACK KNOWLEDGE OR THEY ARE COMPLETELY WRONG, AND ALL THOSE PEOPLE THAT DONT KNOW ANYTHING JUST STRESS EVERYONE OUT OR JUST GETS NEWBIES TO WANT TO QUIT BEFORE THEY EVEN START, NOW THAT I DO THINGS MY WAY, ITS NOW FUN, NOT STRESSFUL, I HAVE BEEN CREATING SOME REALLY AWESOME ENGRAVINGS, I HAVE MUCH MORE EXPERIMENTING TO DO, BUT ITS A LOT OF FUN NOW, I HAVE LEARNED WHO TO AVOID OR NOT TO WASTE MY TIME WATCHING THE TIME WASTERS, YOU JUST WASTE TIME AND MATERIALS, SETTINGS THAT THE LIARS CLAIM AND THEY DO NOT WORK EVER, THE WAY THEY CLAIM

    Oh Golly, I have been trying to figure out where to start in setting speed/power for ever so long. I have Lightburn version 1.6.02. I have been using a Ruida CO2 100w laser. It was in a fire so my buddy brother purchased it, restored it, and put it in my garage for me and my sister to play with. It is now a 50w laser. I am going over your tutorial (more than once) and can't wait to get started. Thank you! Lucie

    I am a "noob" and have no actual experience. Have watched hours of youtube videos from dozens of people and I feel like Sargent Schulz from Hogan's Heroes. "I know nothing!" I have ordered one of those Chinese lasers, a Mecpow pro 3 10 w laser and am waiting for it to come in. I am an older retired guy and this is all new to me. I stumbled upon your channel and thoroughly enjoy it. I am working my way through your Light Burn videos and find that they are very well done. Your voice is well modulated and your delivery is excellent even without a script. I did join your forum but have not posted anything yet. It is not my goal to start a business so cost of materials, while a concern doesn't stop me from exploring various materials and having fun. Hopefully you will respond to this comment. I will check back later.

    @@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Hello again LHG! 😁 How are you? I’d be brainless if I thought that you weren’t busy. Your experience and tutorials seem absolutely endless. I find myself viewing some of them even if I haven’t reached the point of using a particular skill. I feel that eventually I will need to know it anyway. Hobby guy, I’m goal is to learn with my XTool Pro in order to earn an income. Do you support yourself solely from your different machines (devices )? If so which one do you prefer as your bread winner? And how do I locate any of your lessons on how to successfully use my laser and/or Creality S-Pro 3D printer to generate income? Honestly my friend, you are a very gifted and talented person. And I love watching you teach us via KZread. Thank you so much Hobby Guy!!! 😉

    Rich another Great learning video, you have nuggets in your videos that I am sure many miss. I have the Longer Ray 5 10 watt laser and the spot beam is .060 compared to many others as are .080. It was during this video you showed where to make that change to reflect a greater definition in burns with fill and I have not seen this mentioned on any other video that I have noticed. I have been playing with Lightburn for the last 3-4 years and in the beginning there were few videos so it was the shot gun approach to figuring thing out. I made a lot of projects but nothing special. I got bored and parked the Ortur laser master. a month ago I bought the longer Ray 5-10 with airassit. oh wow what a difference. I update my Lightburn there is so much more you can do today/ I have been digging into this like a rabid dog for the last month. everyday I learn something new. for an old retired guy it is good.😁🛫

    Enjoy your videos very much. I do have a question ⁉️🤔 When would you run any tests at 💯 percent power especially when all the manufacturer said it will quickly shorten the life of the Lazer. So why not stop at 90 percent.

  • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy

    @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy

    11 ай бұрын

    I don't know what diode manufacturer says that. It's a Co2 laser you can't run over 70% power, and the ones that say you can, throttle the power in the controller. Yes, diodes will last longer at lower power, but the lifespan is so long, and the degradation is so slow, the laser will probably outlive it's welcome, or you'll want to move to newer technology before the diode degrades to point where you can't use it.

  • @TheLouisianaHobbyGuy

    The size of the kerf is determined by the precision of the focusing. I don't dial in the focus for the purpose of videos, so it can be off a bit. I doubt it was 0.3mm though. During the original testing when I focused on the focus 🤪 I believe I measured 0.09mm.

And how do I determine what the proper LPI is for that? I gather the values of .05x.1 makes it an oval shape rather than a true circle? If it is an oval would it make a difference on direction of engrave or being that it’s that small does it make a difference?

    Hallo Rich. After struggling with the Boleans without any result I solved my problem using the Node Editing. This took more than 20 hours. I feel that an "Eraser" is needed: a function making it possible to draw a circle or a rectangle over a part of a design and, with one click, erase all that is within the frame of the eraser. If such a function is indeed not available in Lightburn ( I could not find) than, maybe, your connection to the developer can yield such a function. Please send me a link to your Patreon account!
