Go raibh míle maith agat! If you take requests I would LOVE a video at some point about how to have your first Irish conversation. For example, phrases like "How do you say ____ in Irish?" (but as Gaeilge), "I've just started learning Irish", "Could you please say that again?" and "Sorry could you please speak more slowly?". Those kinds of things!

FOR ANYONE WHO USED GOOGLE TRANSLATE FOR IRISH: Google translate is actually not the most correct translator. The more demanding or popular language, the more accurate they are, but since Irish isn't as demanding, it is only about 70% accurate. Also, there isn't even audio for Irish, so "bhean" can easily become "bhahabean" if you try to pronounce it. They offer no pronunciation guide. When I first wanted to learn Irish (before I found Gaeilge i mo chroí) I googled Hello in Irish. It came up as "dia duit", and I pronounced it like "deeya dweet." Go raibh maith agat for teaching me proper Irish, Holly!

Be careful, gaelic is the language family, of manx, gaidhlig and irish. It's like calling an english speaker a germanic speaker. We insist, call it Irish or Gaeilge (and I know the latter doesnt help with the confusion)

Dia duit! Gabh raibh maith agat as múineadh dúinn. Tá tú an-chabhrach! Hope I said that right! It's hard trying to learn on your own. I eventually want to emigrate to ireland. Most of my family came to America from Galway, county mayo, and Ulster during the potato famine. Hope to one day return and help keep this amazing language alive!

Just double checking on something, but for the first conjugation endings, it's either -fidh or -faidh (depending on whether the verb stem is slender or broad), but in either case the pronunciation is the same, sort of like "hee". Correct? And I'm assuming the pronunciation is different in the various dialects.

Hi Molly, and very many thanks for your new video as it is really useful and helpful for us.Could you please tell me if we know that An tuaisceart is the north, an deisceard the south, an t-oirthear the east, and an iarthar the west, when we write ag dul ó thuaidh, going north, ag dul ó dheas going south and ag dul soir going east. Why there is difference with the first names? Thank you
