How to Use the Automixer on the Behringer X32 - Behringer X32 Automixer

The automixer is available on any of the X32/M32 models and is an extremely helpful tool for anytime you have multiple speakers on stage talking at the same time like a panel interview or a discussion. In this video I show you how to use it!

Drew, just for fun you should do a demonstration of auto mixer with several tracks of singing vocals to show how it would sound.

Great tutorial Drew... Another thing to do is you could use the "gate range" funtion as you can set the threshold and the range tells the gate how much of the level to turn down by ...ie: -9dB. Works a treat, and on any channel too. 😊

i was hoping if you could make a video on how to record live stream vocals and instruments in the computer using Cubase 5 Software and putting it back to the mixer to play it again and again.

that's seems what i looked for in x-32, i found that feature in bose processors, called gain-sharing amm control. that can be very useful in confrences

Hi Drew. I love your tutorials. I have a church that is a very lively space with an ambo mic, cantor mic and a wireless mic for the pastor. I can see the benefit for automix for those three mics. But how would I isolate those mics from the vocal mics on channels 9-16? The audio from vocal mics get into two of the first three mics, via room reflection. The mixer is usually unattended is the reason for the question.

My table surprised me recently. After updating the software, on one of the next units, it turned up the volume on its own. It was channel 38 linked to 37, and it was not a router hack, because of the two linked ones, only one fader went up. Could this be "Revolt of the Machines"? ;) - google translate from polish...

So you still set the levels on the faders, and this sorta "ducks" the other mics if they aren't being used?

Hi Drew I have a question why is it that only the first 8 channels only have the automix and not all of the channels on the X32?

Difference is multiple channels could activate their gates at the same time, and once the threshold level is set, it stays static. Automix is dynamically muting the "less loud" channels no matter the absolute volume level. It ensures only one channel is active. Perfect for spoken word situations.

It’s possible that in some situations using only noise gates would be preferred. Such as if 2 hosts are intentionally speaking at the same time (or singing, or quickly bantering back and forth and into each other’s phrases). I look forward to trying the auto mix feature in this scenario to hear how it behaves. Thank you for this helpful tutorial!

Let's say you had mics on 25-32 like your example. Could you just change the input routing via user settings or do you have to physically change the inputs to 1- 8?

Automix is only available on the first 8 channels on the console. You an use the routing menus so send any input you want into, for example channel 1, but you can't "move" the automix feature to channels 25-32. Does that make sense? In this video I think Drew has card inputs feeding the first 3 channels. Also, you can see that there's nothing plugged into the local XLR inputs on the back of the console in his video. And yeah, the first time I went to use this feature I had to move all of my wireless headset mics from channels 9 - 16 to 1 - 8 :)

Thanks for the info. This could have been a 2 minute video if you didn't repeat yourself so much. Also, it would have been nice if you would have said what the auto mixer actually does at the beginning of the video. I'll try it out though.
