Any, can we use negative or questions? Much and many can we use positive or questions?
@TeachersMarkandMatt

Hi! Usually we use much and many with negative sentences. I don’t have much time or He doesn’t have many close friends.
I have doubts about the difference between so and too, it would be great if you could explain a little bit about it. Thank you so much.

it's normal to eat ___ food by hands in India a. some b. any c. a d. an I think the sentence is already fine by itself without the options, but I have to answer them so which answer should it be? I chose B but my teachers say it's A or C. Pretty weird!

If 'some' used when offering things like food/drinks, what about offering other thing?like a pen Example: Do you what some pens? Would you like some pens? Is that correct? what's the right way of offering things?
@TeachersMarkandMatt
2 жыл бұрын
We often use "would you like" when we're talking to people we don't know. The waiter at a restaurant will say: "Would you like some coffee?" "Do you want some coffee?" is okay too, but I'd usually say that to a friend ;)

But we can use many for questions??
@TeachersMarkandMatt
2 жыл бұрын
You can! But, the meaning is a little different. Do you have any children? =I don’t know if you have children. Do you have many children? =I assume you have children. I want to know how many.
helppp. can we say " Have You Got any stamps " or "have you got many stamps " if not why and if we can how can we answer
@TeachersMarkandMatt
2 жыл бұрын
We usually use ANY with questions: =Have you got any stamps? We usually use MANY for negative sentences. =I haven’t got many stamps. We can use many for a question, but in that case I assume that you have some stamps and want to check how many (the quantity).

Not any = zero Not much = a little, or some.
Can I exchange any or much on the same sentence? Thanks

They are different. I don't have any food. = No food. I don't have much food. = I have a small amount of food. I don't have any time. = No time. I have to leave. I don't have much time. = I have five minutes, but then I have to go.
