    i am installing a whole house sediment filter on my water line after the pressure tank on my well system. I need only a few fittings and have no plumbing skills now do I own all the crimping tools of other connectors. These Sharkbite fittings seem to be designed for someone like me. It's good to have options.

    I just decided to replace my water heater fittings with the regular copper soldering method. I It was mainly because I didn't want to cut the existing copper pipe too close to the drywall. So I went out got all the supplies at HD it wasn't cheap $140 for the torch, solder, flux, pipe cutter and fittings. If I was doing this all the time it would be worth it but as a one time thing the Shark Bite would have been cheaper.

    I have a leak in my waterline, and it's right where there is a rat's nest of romex, so instead of soldiering, I'm just gonna use a shark bite coupling 👌

    When one is to use the shark bit on to joints of copper pipe, do the plastic inserts have to be removed from the shark bits, and if so will it leak when the water is turned on?

    In addition to what you do could you put silicone grease on a copper pipe to prevent damaging rubber o-ring inside the shark bite ? Thanks

  • @masterflowplumbing9812

    @masterflowplumbing9812

    Жыл бұрын

    You can but you have to be sure the grease will not distort the o ring over time. Many petroleum products will do just that. Thanks for watching

    i tell every one of my friends who have homes to buy a ball valve shark bite or two in case they get a leaky pipe in the middle of the night they can cut off the pipe, sharkbite a valve on there and turn it off...itll get you to where you need until you can get a plumber...and you can keep the water on!!

    @@masterflowplumbing9812be sure you put your main shut off where there's easy access. I had a leak emergency and mine is in a crawl space under the house. I had to crawl underneath in winter barefoot and a t-shirt into freezing mud! You can also get an electric one that you can shut off remotely.

    When you used the PEX you did not use the Orange tool to debur the pipe 11:35 what is a stiffener you put in the Pex pipe.

  • @masterflowplumbing9812

    @masterflowplumbing9812

    Жыл бұрын

    The stiffener is used to ensure the end of the pex pipe does not begin to collapse over time. It’s important when using a sharkbite type fitting on pex. You remove them for all other pipe and the orange tool has no debur tool built into it. It’s simply a depth guage.

    Give that orange tool another look. Mine has a deburring function and when I zoom in on a screenshot of yours it looks like it has all the same metal inserts for deburring. Website: “Mark proper insertion depth for SharkBite Universal fittings, as well as deburr pipe with a simple rotation of the tool once the pipe is inserted. Features and benefits: Compatible with PEX, copper, CPVC, PE-RT and SDR-9 HDPE pipe. Used to deburr the outside of copper pipe to remove any sharp sections or burrs. Lightweight and durable plastic construction.”

    I disagree slightly. These fittings can be used everywhere. There is NO DATA anywhere which show FAILS of these fittings.

    I don’t believe I talked about failures. I’ve seen very few in my career. I only use these when I need to. They cost too much to plumb a house with.
