This character is just “do you like speed?” “Do you like speed more than health?” “You sure?” “Alright…” *proceeds to melt an entire team through sheer surprise and velocity.*

As an Octane main since season 2, these tips are really good, essential for playing a good Octane.

I'd say loadout is more up to preference than how to play certain legends tbh.

@@dominatindorito7810 that's true, but some have advantages. Gib with ranged weapons, Rampart with LMGs, Octane with ARs/shotguns/SMGs, Wraith with a Wing/Peace. Each one has there advantages and of course you can mix and match how ever you want. Even fuses buff is better with a Rampage. Even gold helmets. Octane/Mirage don't need it. Give it to a Gib/Blood.

@@trainedorphan9640 no shit about the gold fucking helmets you didn't even have to put that part in. Fuse's buff is a scan and throwing power. The rampage has nothing to do with his buff. People can use whatever guns they want stfu

As extra tip, I use the jump pad for blocking doors in small rooms and revive teammates. In the worst scenario delays the push enemy, in the best side the jump confused in the air and you hear that. Just saying jeje.

What do you think about fuse after his buff, I feel he is quite viable, good for stoping people from going somewhere like caustic. And can be used aggressively with his ult and grenades.

Fuse is solid now! Not too OP and not bad!

As a 10k octane my biggest tip would be if u wanna be an octane that survives and helps his team have ur pad distance and cool down time memorized or just always locked in. Abuse ur stim strafe. I pretty much only stim if I'm strafing. It's also rare for me to do the same strafe twice. That's the fun part for me is I can be super creative with strafe patterns still hit my shots and octane can basically just exaggerate that with his stim. Ping your pad! Sometimes in bushes it's good to hide the pad if you ping it it will highlight it for your team. This was a very informative video I was looking for his exact cool down time tbh I thought it was 1:30 but I knew it wasn't exactly that. Appreciate the knowledge

One crucial movement information I would add to this. While stimmed tap strafing is a lot easier to do, plus you get a little bit more distance while doing so. Another thing is the tap strafe by using the launchpads 2nd jump. It's borderline broken how much mobility it gives you and how hard it is to hit you when you suddenly change direction mid air. To fully use his potential Tap strafing is absolutely key.

There is a 3rd pad movement that OG octain players might know but if you jump as you hit the jump pad you get double the height and if you do it right you still get the double jump from the pad

5:10 Just turn off the FOV Scaling in the Game Settings. You don't have the scaling then while using stim / bloodhound ULT and ADS. Good Guide Tho.

I’m returning from season 2, and I can’t get over how far octane can pad now. You just about cross towns now. Not to mention the double jump. I do hate to see how picked he is though. Used for be able to get him every game.

Is it possible to run apex with msi afterburner without crashing with that error code ?

So I was wondering about the stimming before using the jump pad. I get that it still brings you the same distance but does it make you fly through the air faster? Whenever I do it seems like I fly faster but I'm not sure.

Just a pub casual player. I'm working on getting 30 kills with any legend I haven't used and Octane is one. These tips are great, thank you. But to have a few laughs at my friends expense I definitely have to do a few rage quit sessions just to get into the Octane mindset. :D

I am an octane main and I am also my team's Igl. Me and my revenant are a great team. Comp Is still good

Quick tip: instead of wasting a throwable to destroy a pad before you jump shoot the pad with at least 13 shots jump on it and as your in the air turn back and shoot the pad more to destroy it either way it works decent in clutch plays

Does work this way. Although the weapon will matter in terms of destroying the pad. And of course you won't have perfect accuracy when flying away so if the game rng's ya, you might be unsuccessful.

I feel like the next one should Horizon. That guide always felt like "rushed out" to me, and wasn't enough. You also said that recent buffs/nerfs changed the way she's played, so... Anyway keep it up, this is good work

For anyone watching this guide today here is a really important thing to know, stimming will cancel out the slowing effect of catalyst's spikes, it will not remove the visual clutter from the ult however.

I like hybrid mid and close range guns like R301 and Flatline so I can weaken from range and then pad in and know my gun is going to work in the close range. I try to pair it up with an SMG or shotty as well.

How the heck do you shoot in range with L-star
