I feel the same way about mockups. I got so happy and so excited the first time I put my work into a mockup. I'll never forget it. Mockups actually give you a sense of accomplishment, it's crazy. 💜

How do you know what size to make your file to fit the mock-up? Especially for a box that has multiple sides

so when you make your designs you need to know your dimensions for the project. If you want a box, set up your files with real dimensions as if you were printing, even if you aren't. Same as if you're designing a poster, business card, etc. you have to make it the actual product size. Hope this helps!

Do you *have* to do the mockups in Photoshop or can you upload them into Illustrator? I'm just getting started + I've decided to start with Illustrator and was just curious if this is possible in that program. Thanks!!! xx

when you download mock-ups from online they are typically photoshop files! That helps with bringing in your own photo. Illustrator doesn’t really have a feature for that, sorry I don’t have more advice!
