You can also just right click on the middle of the route (where you want an ‘anchor point’) and choose “Add Destination” from the right click sub-menu. It will put add it to the route, in the correctly sorted order. Not a big thing. A tiny bit easier if you create a lot of routes.
I've done the Maps part, never thought about a spreadsheet...Thanks!! Great video.
Do not forget that in Google Maps under Options you can eliminate toll roads, freeways, and ferries as route options.

That's the same method I like to use, as well! The 'super slab' is typically not scenic as the highway roads that are around. The Google Maps options are handy to plot out some scenic paths. I never considered using Google sheets to plot out further routes - brilliant.
Man, your tutorial has improved my route planning threefold. Great and informative video. Thank you.
Thanks this helped so much. I am in charge of planning the route for a 3 day trip in Michigan with a lot of new riders not comfortable riding on the expressway and was having trouble getting google maps to go the way I wanted. Looking forward to watching other videos.
Awesome video. I've made some in the past but, your spreadsheet makes it a lot more organized and easier.
LOVE IT! I have used google sheets and planed my cross country ride and back. Never thought about the link to route so I will incorporate that into my spreadsheet. Great job!
Well done Sir and thanks for taking the time to make the video. I got a few great ideas from it and also a BIG thumbs up from me.
Thank you for that information I was going crazy with the Google Map trying to figure out how to do that I looked up online it seem like no one had any real answers stumbled across yours it has been very beneficial for me thank you. Keep up the good work.👍🏍🏍🏍
Absolutely brilliant. I am so happy I seen this one. It opens a whole new avenue of sharing.
Outstanding concept. This will be a huge help for me planing trips. Thanks for sharing the idea.
Thanks for sharing, good info and handy to know for any group travelling for a short trip or longer.
Good stuff! Use both for years but I like the creative way you use the tools!
Very helpful. I definitely enjoyed and will be using this system. Thanks for the video.
Very good and informative video. I didn't know Google maps and sheets could be combined so usefully. Will be using this for bike trips in the future. Keep on biking!
Killer help dude! I wish I had found this video last year when I did a 43 day, 14,000 miles trip. Thanks!!
cool man. this will be very helpful. thanks for putting this together.
Really simply explained and demonstrated. Great use of Google Sheets & Offline. The key being to plan the route with a stop at a point where you and your mates can hit the button to the next stage of the ride.

The stage by stage really reduces the complexity of longer rides - can't wait to use this
Thanks this was awesome. Can't wait to use this for some weekend getaways in the driftless area!
Nice, great information, thanks for sharing 👍🏽
Good video. Learned a few things in there myself. Am a Garmin / Basecamp user myself in the main but this definitely was useful and am pretty sure would be useful to me even when planning routes as a back up to my Garmin. Good effort thanks
Great video. I do the exact same thing. Using an Android you can add the route to your home page. I group days as icons. One thing to mention is when you launch, I change the starting point to my location. This takes it to navigation mode if your phone is mounted as your navigation device.
Thanks for the video, it has helped me a lot!! Greetings from Rotterdam, Holland!!
Second time watching this video, this time I went along and did it as you explained it.....I will def be using this method going forward as Google constantly thinks that it is smarter than you and wants to change the route the longer you make it.
Good explanations! Thanks for sharing
Super helpful video thanks a ton!
This as great! I use a similar system for my trips but will use Sheets from now on since it’s more organized than Docs. Thanks!
Good tutorial. I plan on trying this with myself. Thank you brother.
Just ran across this video and it was super helpful! Thank you!
Great information! Thanks for sharing
Great Tips, this is the way to do it! Thanks!
Thank you, this was a great tutorial!
Thank you for the info! Never thought of doing it like this. But I like it! Gonna give it a try

Thanks, I'm giving it a try this weekend, excellent use of Google Drive and Sheets.
Great video -- all the stuff that I was trying to figure out slowly on my own you addressed in such a great way!! Thanks!! (Planning a ride across Canada coast to coast)

Thanks for sharing. Very simply explained
Thank you. I have been looking for something like this!!!!!!
Genius bro! Great job on this tutorial 👍
Awesome tutorial I watched other ones with Google Maps so confusing you made it look so simple and easy thanks a lot now I need to fix my laptop
Awesome. Thanks buddy. About to set up some group rides for followers to come on with me - you've made life easier... 😊🌟🏍️
Awesome video man, thank you
Great information!!! Thanks, excellent video!!! I love it!!!
thank you for sharing this google maps tips and tricks.. this is really helpful.. god bless you 🙏
This was an awesome video!!! You don’t know how much I’ve wanted to do this for our bike trips, but could never figure it out. Keep up the great work!! Thanks so much!!! Ride safe buddy!
This is great. Especially for the camera guy/drone pilot who stops and then needs to catch up. Thanks for sharing.
Great video and tips!!
Excellent, many thanks for this, really useful, particularly being able to derive shareable route link off google.
Excellent tutorial! I had no idea we could had add way-points in order to add new segments. Many times I have been riding "blind" because I did not know that functionality.
Thank you for this man!
What an excellent tutorial, thank you!
Great Video advise, thanks. I have been riding for years and this is great advise.
Great information. Thanks.
Very helpful video, thanks. I'm in San Antonio, so I may meet up with y'all when I get a bigger bike.
The best tutorial. Thanks from and ADV rider from South Australia.
Fantastic information
awesome tutorial!
Great tutorial thanks I will be trying this.
Super! Thank you mate, great solution! 🙏🏼✌🏼
I done similar routes. Normally I option out of highways then plan. Appreciate the video. Hooah
Very cool well done thanks for the tutorial :)
Thanks. The destination in between point A and point B makes it so much easier as 'dragging' the routes can get messy.
I call the waypoints my "anchors". That's the only way to solidify the route. Great video.
Fantastic thanks for sharing
A really good vid and posting. I didn't know that. I'm not from the dark ages so to me it was great 👍 Thank you and please keep your content this long rather than the short one 🤞 Thank you 👍 A from the UK.
This is really helpful. Tq
Very informative!
Cool video. Thanks!
I ride solo but wanted to edit the route to add the twisty roads. Maps kept defaulting back to the more direct routes...so actually this video was for solo riders too! 😉👍

Hi , I use syci for this sole purpose on my motorbike . I can set my A to B points, once I've selected start , I can the go back to the route, tap the screen on the road you want to ride and the system will automatically re-route using your way point. You can alter your route this way for as many times as you like. It's free to try, but it's really cheap licence to get sl, the functions. Give it a try, I find it better than, Google, calimoto, also there's a free app called Here we go. It's pretty good as well. Like everything though , it takes getting used to , but it's worth it. 🇬🇧

@@nightofthe8765 how about this: making a route that avoids bigger cities (desktop must be better choice, more precision), then writing down, on paper, where (places, or some pointers on the road, like "field, mountain to the north, river, bridge, factory on the right" or so) you need to turn, and then keeping that paper infront of you while riding. offcourse, android offline maps and good paper maps as a backup. and a gallon and a half of extra fuel in tank, as you'll get lost anyway....heh...
Awesome! Thanks!
Great video!
Wow. I've been doing this but agonizing over pastes into word with links to google routes... So simple! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for sharing
Awesome. Thanks man!
Great video...thank you.
Very usefull. Thanks 👍
I’m planning one of those “Epic” cross country trips. I have been looking for something like this! 2 lane roads the whole way! Thank you!

Reall useful. Thank you
super useful, thanks
Ya but but but your gonna eliminate all the chaos and arguments. Your gonna miss 30 bikes making a U-turn in the middle of the road and 5 falling over...….Great video man, I knew there was a way, I just never really tried to find it. So, thank you for showing me how to do it!!!
Awesome Thx for sharing
Thé problem with Google Maps is that every time you arrive at a stop you have to press the screen to continue the route. Impossible to do on a moving bike with gloves on.
@goofyfoot2001

The problem is that google maps wants to take you on a different route WHILE you are riding. If you don't so NO it takes you on a route you didn't choose. IT IS RETARDED
@patmelsen

@@goofyfoot2001 OMG! I literally had that issue yesterday. Was riding home from visiting a friend, 200 miles or so. Picked a nice route that I know has less traffic and overall more relaxing to ride. Half an hour into the ride, I notice that I'm on the wrong road. Check google maps, it changed the route just like that. I fixed it, went on, only to discover another half an hour into the trip that it changed it back again. I got super fed up, especially because it was really hot and there was a lot of congestion on the roads it was taking me on. I think it prefers to take the faster or shorter route, but sometimes a longer route has less traffic and is more enjoying.

Uh, they make armored touch screen gloves. I found a great pair that work really well. It was on Amazon

@@patmelsen Google always recalculates the shortest route. You need to add enough waypoints so it can’t do that
This is brilliant. Ive been trying to find a decent app which finds interesting roads and can plan a route but they all want my money for the privilege! I shall be using this technique instead! Cheers dude!
Great tutorial
Good info!
Great “how to” video! Thanks!
Great video. I planned a short ride and used the spreadsheet idea. Worked perfectly. The only issue I have is that when I send the map to a friend or pull up on the phone, When the link is clicked for that leg of the route the app seems to change the route to the shortest route. So all the work pulling the path to roads we want to travel is basically over ridden. I have checked in the nav settings if there is anything I can do to avoid the change but haven't figured out a fix yet. At least the spreadsheet saves some of the broader info so I'm not starting from scratch trying to recreate the route. Suggestions welcome.
Perfect! Thanks.
Thnx for sharing
Thanks so much mate
Very helpful. I am planning a bucket list ride this coming June from Florida to Jackson Hole Wy. It has been a challenge to determine distances per day as I might be optimistic to cover about 400 to 450 a day. Wanting to do as much scenic riding as possible to get the most enjoyment out of this jpurney
Create suggestion. I was going to subscribe to a service but this is all I need. Safe travels.
All right all right thumbs up
Very useful. Thank you. I use an app called Calimoto, selects random routes etc.
Great tips! Cool to see your ride example comes up into my AO. Suggest you add Salt Lick BBQ here in Driftwood as a destination for one of your rides 👍
