I was forced to learn about Google Calendar because I needed a way to organize appointments with my clients. It was frustrating trying to find a You Tube tutorial that didn't make me dizzy with confusing content. Out of all of the available tutorials, this video was not only comprehensive, but it was also designed for people having little-to-no background in Google Calendar. Thank you, Anson. The UI/UX for Google Calendar is an absolute masterpiece in my opinion. So intuitive and sleek while being optionally robust and technical. The event creation dialog starts off being minimalist and lightweight and quickly becomes verbose if it's needed. When I began using it (it's my first digital organizer tool), I felt I mastered it within an hour of tinkering, meaning someone could become a power user gradually over a short time span just by regularly using the app. It's remarkably powerful while maintaining a sleek exterior.

Awesome, Anson! Now, if you could tell me how to stop Google Calendar from deleting completed tasks on my Android phone, I would truly appreciate it. I occasionally need to know when I completed a task (like a medical appointment, for instance). I used to just scroll through the schedule view to find the entry. Why can't I do that anymore? Is there an app that better suits my needs or do I need to start lugging around a personal organizer again?

Anson, Thanks so much. So clear to understand. Just one thing : at 17:55 you menton about automatically duplicating events over mulitiple calendars. That is not happening on mine (it chnages the events to be in other calendar). Any possible reasons you can think of? tks!!

Thanks Anson! I set up my Calendar in conjunction with your instructions. Yay!! The one thing I'm concerned about is that my colleagues don't all have gmail accounts. Before clicking on your page, I also have had trouble sharing the Calendar with them? There isn't a SEND button on that category either?

You're welcome, glad to hear it was helpful. As for using GCal on iPhone, I just use the Google Calendar app which you can download from the app store. I believe you can also setup a homescreen widget with the GCal app to have your calendar right on your homescreen. Hopefully that helps answer your question.

That's a great question. Yes, this can definitely done. You would have to use a Google Calendar add-on app and, off the top of my head, I don't have one if particular to recommend and wouldn't want to steer you in the wrong direction but you can take a look here and do some Googling to see what other recommend. Yes, I have been looking into this too, but appointments are time blocked and described as ‘appointment’ I just need the start time inputted by customer, and the word ‘appointment’ changed to ‘requested time’ or ‘pick up time’

Thanks for that tutorial. My boss wants to have a shared work calendar between 3 of us. I've created a specific work calendar and I've sent out the invitation to his work email. He has a couple of work email addresses with Google. He then clicks on the link sent to one specific work email, but when the calendar opens, it opens in his other work account... How do we switch it, so he can access the calendar with the correct email account?? Thanks for your help.

Hi! Been working around Google Calendar lately. I've notice that my Tasks that I created on my Google Calendar doesn't show up on a shared Google Calendar with me. What can you say about that? Is there something I need to do? I don't see any settings about it, but my shared calendar settings is already "make changes and manage settings" for everyone.

Thanks for this! I just delete my "name" calendar and change the name of the calendar into: "meeting" and add "fun" etc. somehow it doesn't duplicate my event when i delete an event in one calendar. I also found subscribing to national holiday is confusing so i just type in my holiday manually

How about the different time zones. For example I already organized all the event in my calendar in this specific time zone. Suddenly I travelled across the globe. If i change my time zone in the setting, will the events already set adjust to the time zones I specified? Also if I set the events n my time zone but the guests I invited or shared a calendar link with, will the events reflect on their own timezones not mine?

Can you explain how to create Reminders and use them in google calendar?

You just enable those calendars on the bottom left side of the screen. If you asking about actually moving those events to the primary calendar - that kind of goes against the idea of using multiple calendars. You're free to just use one calendar as well if that works better for your workflow.

Thanks. Great intro. I have a more complicated question. A former admin sent out a google meeting invite for an event that had incorrect date/time. She used the To: with a long list of addresses to send out the incorrect invite. For some reason, the google invite keeps getting resent and the date updated -- but it is still wrong -- and still going to a large group of people. She left a year ago. I don't have access to her gmail account to change the event/stop its recurrence. And she has not responded to requests to delete it. It continues to go out to the whole group. How do I get it to stop???? Thanks.

Thanks! That's a great question. There is no easy built-in way to share tasks that I know of at the moment. You can download and share them via Google Takeout but it is a cumbersome and not very realistic process unless it is being done as a one time thing.

Is there a short cut to make repeating events, for like putting in a work schedule. I'm a nurse, I work the same shifts but not the same days.

If you set busy / away for events on your calendar, they will automatically be able to see available time slots. However, I agree this is an area of Google Calendar that deserves specific attention and I will try to get a video up specifically related to appointment scheduling.

I don't specifically but are you printing by going to the gear icon and then clicking print? From there, you have the options to specify a date range as well as formatting options.

As far as I know, your calendar will keep tasks and events forever until you delete them. I think most people prefer it that way. Are you wanting your events to be auto-deleted after a certain amount of time?

​@@AnsonAlexanderThat's what I thought too, but today I found out that the events before 2 years have now gone and disappeared. It's devastating frustrating to find out like this. I've used this since like forever at least since 2010. I think I was able see them earlier this year. I had little medical results written inside those calendar events as well as other reminders worth remembering/noting. This new doctor I have to see has very detailed paperwork to fill out and all that data was in there. It's not reliable at all if this happened. Is there any way to restore them? Will updates help? Is a browser version have that data? Why did it disappear in first place? I did not go and delete them myself. I can't really change much in the calendar setting so I don't know what things are set at. I only used the app to "record" data. How do I stop this "syncing" if logging from different devices corrupt that data?

Can you drag and drop events to a different time/day in your calendar?

What method are you using to move the event? If you copy an event over there should be a pop-up asking if you also want to invite guests.
