Hi! Great this learning video! I have a question, do you know the best adhesive to glue metal on metal? It is for the Swarovski or Gita jewellery metal settings. I used E6000 glue that is the best for crystal, but for metal on metal wasn't. I don't find a professional glue transparent and to have the properties of E6000 but to have a very strong bond on metal to metal. Thank you so much! 👍👍👍

Would the GS cement be required for working with 2mm type Swarovski crystal? I don't know how you would get the E6000 into the 2mm area where the crystal supposed to go. Perhaps Pixiss Art Dotting Stylus would help in this case for E6000?

A dotting stylus can certainly help. We have also had success using a toothpick to dot the glue. GS Hypo cement's narrow tip is a great alternative as well.

I don't think we've ever tried it with teeth, but it's the first thing I'd reach for. It will definitely bond to the metal well and the gel like consistency will form to the tooth. Remember to let it set for the full 72 hours, that's especially important when you're testing a new kind of bond.

Yes, E6000 will work well for bonding crystal to crystal, or bonding crystal to the foil backing of another crystal.

Sorry meant to say I use the krazy glue because it dries in 30’seconds and doesn’t cause the beads to stick to each other. I’m just not sure which is better

We haven't used krazy glue in our crafting much, but I think for the kind of knot hiding you're talking about it's probably a good choice. The best thing we like about G S is how easy it is to apply in small and precise amounts, and krazy glue seems like it gives you good applicator options too. It may not bond as strongly as G S, but for that sort of work you don't necessarily need the strongest possible bond. Especially not if you're making stretch bracelets. Then your knot will probably outlast the cord's stretchiness.

I am making stretch bracelets with 8 mm beads. Using then cement like I said causes the bead I put the knot through causes the next bead to it to stick to the other bead. Is there a way to avoid this. I do love the Gs hypo cement, but selling the product I don’t think looks good with two beads stuck together. I did order the avalon string very excited to use that.

​@@jenniferdewey2914 8mm beads give you a pretty good size to work with, so if I'm understanding the problem right I think what I'd do is clean any excess cement off the side of the bead once you pull the knot through to the center. GS Hypo cement can be removed with alcohol, so a small cleaning wipe, or a cotton swab with a drop of rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover should let you easily clean the bead with a quick swipe.

Hi. Can you help me please......... I manufacture old fashioned safety razors. They are cool and have come back into fashion. What I want to do is set either 2 x 2mm diamond chips or 2 x 2mm cubic zirconium into the head. Can this be done? Remember the head gets wet every shave. Which glue would you suggest?? Would the hole for the "setting" be better at 2mm or 1.8mm? Or would we start with a 2mm hole, drill that half way down then drill the rest at 1.8mm? We will eventually do the razor heads with birthstones...... Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Although we have not done a project with a safety razor, we highly recommend E6000 adhesive. It is industrial strength and will be water resistant once it cures. As far as the settings go, we recommend making them as wide as the crystals you are using. I've read from several sources that E6000 can eat away at the foil backs on rhinestones. This would be so embarrassing if this happened to any of my clients. Anyone else have a history of this happening?

We're still using E6000 as our main workhorse over here and haven't seen that behavior. Some of the Swarovski pieces in our studio are going on 10 years old. The biggest problems we hear about from people with E6000 seem to be due to a lack of curing time. For the best hold you really do want to let the finished piece rest undisturbed for the whole 72 hours.

For 1) I definitely recommend E6000. We use it for setting gemstones in jewelry all the time: beadaholique.com/products/e6000-industrial-strength-glue-adhesive-2-oz For 2) I might also say E6000. We use it for the kind of leather working we do in jewelry making, such as sticking beads or tastes to leather. But if you are making leather clothing or shoes a different clue might be better, I'm not sure what to recommend there since we don't do any tailoring with it. Oh no, you can make as many pieces as you want at one time. The reason we didn't make both on camera was because the video was running a little long and the technique is exactly the same for both. There's no need to clamp them as they dry. You can keep them in your work area and continue to work, or move them somewhere else, they'll be fine as long as they stay upright.
