I could work but for that you will need to design and entire circuit with capacitors and resistors to make it work and be able to program it.

There could be 2 things 1. The wire used for connecting is broken (check the conductivity of the wire or replace it). 2. The sensor itself is broken.

why did you install the adafurit library for?
