Using (and fitting) your crutches correctly can go a long way to expediting how quickly you can get off them, and how far along your rehab journey you are. Hope this helps!!

Great video! Very helpful info, especially covering why we use crutches and when to consider moving towards removing them based on how the user feels. One thing I wish you covered is how to do stairs with a handrail. Thanks

Generally the handrail just takes the place of a crutch! Or it’s best to just bypass the rail and safely use the crutches instead!

Had my left leg above knee amputated nearly 2 years ago. I have under the arm crutches I never use, however I have a prosthetic leg now. I need to use a walker when I go out and about with my prosthesis. I really want to get away from that walker, but for this 66 year old guy, it's been a slow process. I'm wondering if I get forearm crutches, I could use them to maybe make some progress towards independence from the walker? What say you?

Hey Michael! Elbow crutches are usually considered a little less stable than under arm crutches and even more so than a walker. You may need to ask someone in-person for the most appropriate advice! Clinically it’s good to challenge one’s capacity in a safe and predictable environment. If that means intermittent work with elbow crutches for you to build up that balance strength and conditioning then it may be helpful - but again I can’t really give specific help over the internet.

The arm hole of my crutch doesn’t fit my arm fully, is there a way to adjust it or do I get new ones?

My injured ankle is the right ankle. So I try to use the left crutch. should I use an elbow crutch if elbow cannot be fully extended? Would it influence my balance?

If using a single crutch, it’s best to have it on the opposite side. It’s hard to answer your question without assessing you mate unfortunately. It depends on what feels the most comfortable and safe for you to use.

It would be so easy to tie a ribbon on the injured foot or wear a boot on the injured foot. Right now the viewer has to guess which foot is the injured foot. Is it always left? has he changed?
