Do you have to add those 2 extra cartridges everytime you refill the water in the canister? Also what is the measurement cap for, for the amount of water you add to the canister?

Hi, I think it depends on the size, model number, and age of your dispenser, the quality of gas cartridges used, the temperature of the water (ice cold) and how much carbonation you want. Over the years ISI has made different sized dispensers from 250ml to 1500ml in different qualities so the rule of thumb is up to one litre use one cartridge and one litre or above use two. For sure I know one cartridge will dispense the water from the one liter sized container I use but I think two cartridges creates better carbonation or at least enough carbonation to create a foam on top. Do not over or under fill the container, you want to use a measuring device to be precise, or the gas will have difficulty filling the container or not get a good carbonation. Hi, thank you for your comment. If a single cartridge works for you that's great. I found the soda to be flat with only one cartridge so I use two, but my siphon is older and I think the quality of the cartridges used make a difference. Cheers!

I have another question? I watched another isi siphon video and the guy only added 1 cartridge to the bottle, is 2 necessary?

Hi, I like carbonated beverages and have used my CO2 dispenser in dozens of videos. I started a craft soda playlist with lots of soda ideas, which I plan to add to over time. Also, I have been using beverage dispensers for over 30 years in the restaurant business. The dispensers came in handy, especially catering so myself personally I prefer to use two cartridges to save time :).

I have used mine too many times to count and have had no problems. If your dispenser is brand new, right out of the box or only used a few times, you might get away with one cartridge lol. I used them a lot during my catering days and the advise I was given was to charge the container with one cartridge and use a second charge just before using it to make sure. Also sometimes the cartridges are duds so we brought extra cartridges to any event that did not have a tap system. As long as the threads and seals on the top are in good working order your dispenser should hold a charge. The one thing you do not want to do is unscrew the top when charged or you will get soaked lol. Make sure you squeeze the trigger until all of the gas is gone when you are finished with it and only used clean filtered water. Cheers :)

Also, when you fill the canister with gas it makes a pssst sound, if you use another cartridge and it does not make a sound the container will not accept it so it is very difficult to overcharge the container!

Better than Soda Stream?

Hi, I have never used a Soda Stream. I like the soda siphon because it is less expensive but my next choice will be an electric carbonator or keg setup to get away from the CO2 cartridges. Cheers!

Are you having a hard time finding the CO2 cartridges? I have trouble finding them too sometimes. People use them like laughing gas (huffing like a drug) so some stores make them complicated to buy. I buy them from Amazon.ca
