I used the largest plastic tote I can find. place the litter box inside as far back as it can go. cut out a door at one end adding the lid is option depending on the size of cat. My cat Larry enjoyed having the lid so he could watch the birds at the window feeder with a bed on top. He's a feral rescue I cared for at 4 weeks old. He's coming up to 8 years old. Living his best life as a indoor ginger boy. In 4 weeks we will be adopting another little one from a similar situation. She is a little flame point with ginger ears and tail. she's a little spicy girl. we decided her name is rosie.

I adopted my first cat a week ago. I saw this at Walmart for 20 bucks. Thought it was a cool idea. Ended up just buying a litter scoop and having two litter boxes instead of dealing with the sifting. Cool idea but honestly for me it's more of a pain especially when I scoop mine out a couple times a day.

Yes, I only scoop once every 3 days, and still don't find much to pick up for my one small cat. I did get a very sturdy metal scooper that just makes quick easy work of sifting all of the litter in the box.

Convinced me to get one! Had to search the whole internet for one with a lid though. Reason I want this is because the large pee clumps get all stuck to the bottom and are hard to scoop (poo clumps are easy to scoop though) so this will help hopefully with that

Pee clumps can happen here too, but if it’s in the sifting tray its much easier to clean than the solid tray!

If I had 1 cat i would use this. For me I use the large rubbermaid plastic storage bins with lids. Carve a hole on the side about 3 to 4 inches from the bottom and voila. Cheap. Huge. I have five cats and 3 of these makes it a easy to change and scoop lift the lid right off and there you go. I also use more litter than I see on most videos. Ive had cats all my life and too little litter makes it a stinky mess. Good luck to all. Oh and scoop 2 x a day, add some as needed. Do a full change once a month and sprinkle some baking soda in the box for odor control.

Switch to horse bedding (wood pellets) if your cats will tolerate it. I use this box with a puppy pad sprinkled with baking soda. Once it becomes wet the pellets turn to saw dust. The saw dust will sift down and you scoop the poop. There is a lot less tracked out and usually half the price of litter, plus less smell. Change puppy pad weekly.

Does the baking soda do enough to hide the poop smell? I’ve asked a few people about the feces smell with pine litter and they’ve said that unless the feces is scooped immediately, it will reek. I want to switch to pine litter since it’s healthier for the cats, cheaper by a long shot and is supposedly top tier at neutralizing the ammonia smell, but it’s the feces that’s holding me back. Lol

The directions from Arm and Hammer are ass backwards.

I just want to know if there's a space between the top part of the box and the bottom where the litter actually falls into. Because every other one that I've seen designed like this doesn't leave enough room between the box with the holes in the box at the litter falls into.

I've got this box as well as the van ness sifting box. When empty the void below the sifting tray is appx. 1/2 inch, the van ness is appx. 1/4 inch. Either should be sufficient if you're using clumping clay litter. I've only recently discovered pine pellet litter, which requires more clearance between the sifting pan and bottom pan. The home made sifting boxes shown in youtube videos for pellet litter typically have appx. 1 inch. I suggest you space the trays apart by at least this amount. I've recently made a box similar to those shown on youtube. Most of the youtube boxes have 1/4 inch holes drilled on 1 inch centers. Having a touch of OCD I decided to do 1/2 centers resulting in 792 1/4 inch holes 1/4 inch apart resulting in more efficient sifting. If you're using pellets I would recommend the arm and hammer over the van ness. The holes in the van ness are much more likely to get clogged. (Who knows what cats really want?...Kathmandu)

is there a way to drain away their urine since the urine utilises a lot of city litter but not their poop .. my for cat I have to top-up almost a kg of kitty litter in a week .. any solution ???

It comes with a sifter but I can’t remember what the brand is. I bought mine at HEB. Just look for a sifting litter box at your local shopping center. Good luck!

No matter how big i buy my litterbox, one of my cats never goes fully in or if she does she leave her butt outside and pees/poops on the side of the liter box or entirely on the floor

Try changing the litter type but you gotta blend it in over time till fully switched (I feel like if I were a cat I would do what your cat is doing if I hate the way the litter felt in between my toe beans)

I actually found this type of box through Target's website.

Do you realize that one of the pans is Hard Coated (works like Teflon) nothing sticks.

I just got this thing today, why this pop up :/

But when they pee, the clumps wont hold, it will be mixed with the clean litter

I think some of the clumps were pee clumps. The cat is just so little that they look similar to the poo clumps

Put on rubber gloves & pick up solids & put into lined papet trash can & throw it out. 5 minutes.

It's even better to use fuel pallette I thing that's the name I paid 5$ for 40lbs

Nope I have one and a good litter well clump it too

Too much contact with yucky box, have to kneel down, just nope, but kitties are cute.

wooden letters under the net and thats all. My cats do toilet on top of the net. Much easier and less using litter.

People with multiple cats and multiple boxes don't think their house stinks cause their used to the smell. I even know a woman who hat 40 cats and 7 litter boxes and she thinks her house smells like wood pellets. While the smell of urine saturated wood pallets is even more descusting. Jackson, you've got 5 cats and 8 litter boxes. I guarantee your one of those people who's house stinks badly and you don't even know it.

Use clumping cat litter. Only the clean litter will be left behind.

Look guys it's not rocket science, lol, you just want to get the turds out. The baking soda and clay will be enough for the pee, it's clean enough. Or you can pay double and get pretty litter, I was gonna get it but 23 dollars a month is a little over the top for me. Personally I get the non clumping litter @ Walmart. When I need to cleanup her litterbox, it's a breeze, since I only feed her crunchy cat food no moist food, she gets the runs. Whoo.

@@joanargilan9381 Because it’s put together wrong… I never said it would not work the way she has it put together, in fact, I used to stack the bins the same way she is doing it with my old Arm & Hammer sifting litter box, I am simply saying that is not the correct way you are supposed to stack them according to the directions.

I always question the judgment of people that let their cats on countertops..

Then my friend you should try fostering a kitten? You’ll get your answer. I was not an animal person but covid forced me to adopt two rescue newborns, this was the best decision I ever made cos they have helped me to cope with my crippling anxiety so i will let these kitties on the top of the counter or under it if they would wish for it. They are my medicine and they might inherit and family fortune ( which includes some tit bits of emotional attachments and baggage. Thank you for attending my Ted Talk, *bows and leaves*
