How To Use an Oscilloscope | BEGINNER

Hello!
For those of you that know me, welcome back! For those who don't, my name is Kat and I'm an Electrical Engineer. I started my career at NASA as a circuit board designer. Since then, I've also developed a career as an Engineering and Science Communicator, Science Show Host, Activist, Public Speaker, and Citizen Astronaut.
In this video I take you through the basics of the Rohde & Schwarz RTB2004 Oscilloscope. This Oscilloscope is genuinely the best one I've ever used in my career.
Some of my favorite features include:
-10.1” touchscreen
-Waveform and Pattern Generator
-Digital Voltmeter
For 10% off on the R&S®RTB2000 oscilloscope and the R&S®NGA power supply, click on this link:

Nice to see an low level explanation of an oscilloscope. As a starter you don't need such an high end oscilloscope to start with. Especially one that you will probably going to smoke when you try your first electronic experiments and don't realize that the grounds on the oscilloscope is a short.

What would be a good cheap scope for checking a 0-50mA signal at a machine at work? It runs at 0.1hz to 10hz. We have an issue with the machine and would like to see if I have a good control signal. What would the signal look like. I haven't used a scope before.

You could potentially do more with a few oscilloscopes that actually operate as a Linux computer internally, meaning they obviously got room to expand beyond the way they were originally designed to do so (Linux OS also allows for hardware drivers and apps in Assembly if you prefer to do it the hard way).

Never got into electronics in college and one of the things I disliked was the Oscilloscope. Why? Because I never understood them, never really understood what you'd use them for and most of all they were all analog scopes back in the 90s in college. This made them look so old fashioned and bored me. But ever since I've seen the digital ones, I've always wanted one. No idea what I'd use it for but watching people that know what they are doing makes it more interesting. Watching MikesElectricStuff using it to see code from a chip etc.
