I have a question: What if you took a certain clip in your sequence, did the "replace with after effect comp", added all the animation in after effects, then, you realise that you need to modify this clip in the sequence (you need it shorter or longer or you need to cut 2 sec in the middle. How you redo/handle the After effects composition an animation. Many thanks

THANK YOU! I am new to AE but have been using PP for a while now. I could not for the life of me figure out the two were linked together?! I was completely wrong! I was thinking I had to export the AE file as a mogrt file an import it somehow. This saved me so much time and was easy to understand. THANK YOU AGAIN!!

Thanks a lot. This is what I have been looking. It's difficult to look for hours of footages and edit this in After Effects. So, I will be using Premiere pro for editing and AE for effects and animation.

This video was very very helpful. I was doing thing in AE and then pulling them into Premier. But this is much simpler.

I have a 19 second clip that I used in After Effects. I have a ridiculously fast gaming computer, but even then it takes a few minutes (about 3 to 5 minutes) to update in Adobe Premiere. It is a sky replacement roto effect with drone footage. Is this time delay normal?

Question, if I create a sequence in Premiere, then a comp in AE for that sequence, and way later on I decided not to use that comp and delete it, how do I only delete the AE comp without losing the original sequence? Every time I delete the AE comp, I also lose the original footage. How do I keep the orig footage?

Hi, pretty great instructions....but was wondering about some "net steps"....I successfully added an AE scribble effect to one of my clips in PP and it worked great! After another few clips later of my movie I wanted to add another scribble effect, right clicked on the clip, sent it over to AE where it opened up in the composition timeline, but when I tried to draw on it with my pen, all that happens is the pen just moves the entire clip around within the frame. The first imported QT clip is there in AE, along with a composition, and then the new clip portion....no matter what I do, all I can do with the pen is move the video within the frame on this second imported clip. What am I doing wrong? I even tried restarting both programs...discovered you can't delete the imported and altered files (disappeared in PP so I had to recreate). Can you please help?

What is the purpose of the 'Edit Original' in the right click drop down? Clicking it on a previous After Effects comp on the Premiere Timeline opens AE, but when I change something and save, the saves don't go back to Premiere. So if you want to change something you did months ago, what's the best workflow? Thanks.

Hi! What if I am working on a larger project and can't do all the AE work in one sitting? If i save everything, how can I bring back everything without losing AE work in PP? When I opened PP again it only showed an error message on the selected AE edited sequences.

Right click a complete section of the footage with the selected clip(s) covering all the time the edit should take place, then select "replace with after effect composition" from the pop up menu. That's most likely the instruction you are looking for.

I had a problem with that. When I exported the comp. to AE, when I finished the footage looked different. Things weren't where they should be. I used the corner pin" to do some replacements, that were exactly on point, but in back in Premiere, were broken, super different. It looked good in the library preview in premiere too! so I don't know why this happened. I had to export it first and ad the clip later. So I a pain. Any idea why? Thank you.

When you replace clip w AE comp can it also play back any audio you have during that clip? Would I need to link the audio and video first? Also could I do this for an entire 2 minute video that I need a bunch of lower thirds for or should I go scene by scene for this? Thanks for the video and any further help.

When you highlight the footage, if you highlight the audio, it should come with it. Now AE is not the best at rendering quickly. So the audio a lot of times will play back slowed down when the footage plays back slowed down. As for an entire two minute video. Yes, you can do the entire thing at once. For ease of editing though, I would recommend breaking it up into a few smaller pieces!
