    Are you sure this is correct? There will be leakage when you connect the meter to the cylinder hose, you can even hear the loss of pressure..

    I do this test and the results was that in cylinder number 2 and 4 the level of the radiator slowly went down while doing this , but no bubbles were visible, what may cause this ? And can I continue drive like this ? The level went down very slow

    The problem is how to measure the air flowing though the piston ring, because even with a new engine, this place is not completely sealed. There is leaking 100% though the piston ring to any old engine, what experience make you decide to change piston ring? this is a big job! is the hand of the gauge in green area 40%?

    The Tester in the vid is a Nielsen...Model/Man ID: CT4857 Includes the following components - Air regulator leak gauge and pressure gauge unit Gauge reads 0-7BAR (0-100PSI) Adapter M12 x 1.25 (metric) Adapter M14 x 1.25 (metric) Hose extension with quick coupling Hose adapters Complete with storage case It is a sturdy piece of kit...you won`t break it...One thing to remember is that you need an external air supply as shown...From a compressor or cylinder...obvious right ?....It don`t need much...if you have supply of about 90-100 psi fine. BTW. The guy in the vid tells you all you need to know. Easy straightforward. Get a pen/pencil and paper and note down all your readings. So kudos to the fella for making it easy. bought mine on ebay 2 days ago. this is 26/04/20 now..cost me £30 but you van get it for half that price if you look...

    Hi one thing you didn’t mention was if you get air coming out of another spark plug hole. Would this indicate a head gasket failure?

    You can only zero out the vacuum at 30 psi, not good. To do it right, you have to test at 100 psi.

    White "smoke" is actually water vapour, and indicates either head gasket failure or cracked head/block. Oil smoke is blue...

    Why bother wasting time finding TDC with something in the spark plug hole? You have all the plugs out . If you turn the engine over with your ratchet, the gauge will go from 80% down to whatever your reading is and it will get a whole lot harder to pull the ratchet. That's TDC. Unless of course you have a massive leakage problem. Am I missing something here?

  • @johnsailingfree

    @johnsailingfree

    1. With all the plugs out the ratchet won't get hard because there's no compression. 2. You may be in TDC on the wrong stroke and the exhaust valve/s will be open. 3. Visual confirmation, not your dodgy garage guessing "that's TDC".

  • @aaronsmith7143

    @@johnsailingfree It will definitely get hard. You are pressurizing the cylinder. Of course it will get harder. You think 100psi is gonna be easy to push against?

  • @fredflintstone2077

    @fredflintstone2077

    100psi will easily push the piston down the cylinder with force. You don't want to be holding a small ratchet in a tight space with anything near 100psi connected to the engine.

    Your air pressure reading dropped to nothing when you connected the tool to the cylinder. That isn't correct. You should be reading around 40-80psi from your input side gauge.

  • @greggreg6975

    The instructions in mine said set to 100psi. I did that and it bent the 2nd gauge?. Don't set it to 100psi!!!

  • @shanefrank3281

    I've noticed the harbor freight one (which is like the one he is using) has instructions to have it disconnected from the cylinder and connect shop air, then adjust the regulator to get the 2nd gauge at 0. Then you connect it. The issue is that to do that requires a very low pressure, so it will be difficult to hear the leaking air. The Snap-On or Lang tool version has instructions to adjust regulator to 100psi, then hook it up to the cylinder. The issue with this method is that it can cause the engine to turn over and push the piston to the bottom.

    The pressure is constant if it lost through making the connection it would dip and recover Same if there was a leak through a pinched tapped and you released it the loss gauge would recover
