I have played guitar both acoustic and electric for years and never felt comfortable using a pick so I avoided it. I would ask other guitarists who played professionally how to use it but they could not explain it. When they noticed me using only my fingers they would just say, "You need to learn how to use a pick." This was a great video because so many really good guitarists even guitar teachers can't explain it well. Ol Perfecto did it.... he is good at explaining the intricacy of it and gives us for free practice exercises to speed up the learning process to go from beginner to advanced. Bravo!!

Just watched 4 "how to hold a pick" videos back-to-back, this is lightyears better than the others and the only one that was instant sub. Thanks alot!

Thats why I'm here. Being impatient with learning how to use pick and shot my self in the foot in the long run. Now i can easily use the fret board but my right hand isn't following

WOW...finally someone that gets it.. being holding guitar 30 yrs..recently started electric guitar...Being trying to find "how to read picking".. not so much how to hold the pick but more how to read picking all together per songs.. if that makes any sense at all?? Learning to play the electric guitar at the tender age of 30. Awesome video Perfecto! The last part where you reveal what the exercise ultimately helps you do was mind-blowing.

35 here! Never too late, fuck what they may say.

I am a guitarist but happened to be blind. I'm having a hard time learning these picks proper positions since I can't see the hand of KZreadrs. Even the shape and size of their picks... I'm glad some of them at least naming the string and fret number when they teach a solo or something. That way I can follow what and how to play - instead of saying just 'this, play that, and then this...'

@blindstreet Not sure if it helps still but pick sizes are largely down to preference - what is the most comfortable for you to hold. It's best to try out a bunch and see what is easiest for you. I had to do this several times - as I got better and I held my hand closer to the strings, I started to prefer a smaller pick. The tusqs are my current favorites.

Picking up the guitar after a 40+ year break, it's like I'm an older newbie. Thanks for helping me with picking drill techniques.

You have the most complete guitar lesson from basic wc is the most important upto advanced level and even guitar maintenance. Ill be your forever fan Perf! 😊

Thank you for speaking about pick angle, that's the hardest part for me because nobody ever tells about it and I felt like my pick gets stuck to the strings, I noticed it helps if I use a different angle but I wasn't sure if I'm supposed to do so. 🙏
