The last homely house told me about this , and I’m sooooo happy to learn about it! Thank you so much! I have a quilt I didn’t want to bind traditionally and this is the perfect solution!! Thank you very much for making my day!!!!&

Just watched latest video of the Last Homely House. Kate had a link to this video as I really enjoyed seeing how a “facing” type binding looks when completed! Thank you for sharing your technique!

Guess what. I too have just watched Kate on the Last homely house and am thrilled to see your quilt finishing. I did this on my first ever quilt (baby size) and thought I hadn't done it correctly, so it's still in my UFO pile, as I couldn't face undoing it. I'm now determined to go back to it and finish it. Fortunately, another of my niece's is having a baby shortly...... 😅😅Kind regards from England, Jackie M😊

Just watched Nov 2023 - Great video Joe, many thanks - this looks a great technique. I've seen some that use a triangle at the corners, which is nice, but I think I prefer this one. Greetings from North Wales UK. 🙋‍♂🙋‍♂😊😊

you could even do it the opposite way and then your facing would make a cute border on the front. genius.

Very nice to know! I will have to remember to do it this way next time! I'm like an old jersey milk cow headed to the barn when I get to that point... Lol. I think in kids quilts I'll always do it traditional way because those edges get the most wear. Thanks

Do you tuck 1/4 inch under and press before hand sewing or it would be a raw edge, right? I saw a quilter over cast stitch and no binding. That is another option.

Great demo! Very clear. I have a related question however. I'm about to finish up a 24 by 30" art quilt and use facings for the first time. I also will be putting a 4" hanging sleeve on the back. I'm thinking that might look wonky if the facing underneath is only 2". Then I thought - why not make the top facing wider but leave the other three at 2 ". Or?
