How to: Use a 3-hole Stripper

Ғылым және технология

A three-hole stripper is a pivotal tool when working with fiber optic cable. In order to successfully install or repair almost any fiber optic cable, knowing how to properly use a three-hole stripper can alleviate a lot of headaches. Practice is key with this tool, as it requires tactile finesse learned through repetition.

My strippers wont take off that coating anymore, micro adjustments are made and then it will just cut the glass. I got frustrated after many attempts and said whatever, terminated it and there was basically no loss in light signal. Is that bad to leave that coating on?

Hi, Joe! You're wrong. It is forbidden to conduct the second time on bare fiber. You are making micro-scratches.

Sometimes you have to strip a second time as all of the coating does not get removed when you wipe the fiber with alcohol. This could also be an indication that your tool is wearing out. Whether you create micro-scratches I cannot comment as I do not have an inspection tool or know of one that can show evidence of those scratches.

@@josephcairone2065 You are absolutely right. If the result is not achieved the first time, then you need to tune or change the tool
