How To: Upgrades to Revell Dodge 1968 426 Hemi Dart! Part 2

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

How to do a few simple changes to the Revell 1968 Hemi Dart part 2. Just a few simple mods to the intake to level it out. Just adding some paint to the hood to add the rib on the scoop. Addressing other wheel options from other kits to finish this up.

    I love the extra mile you take on the details! I never would have done that to the intake and just lived with the way it came in the kit. Showing us these details is going to push the rest of us to go the extra mile as well.

    Thanks! It's your model and just enjoy building it your way. I was going to leave it at first but since I was correcting other things. I went back and corrected the intake. I see lots of forum threads about How model companies can't get things right. I get it but I like to show solutions instead of just complaining. It may not be perfect but it's better and I'm happy and that is all that really matters.

    Two things. First, the wheels from the Ford are more like the correct Dodge wheels where the small dog dish covers attach. The Corvette ones are totally wrong for the Dart. Second, just a tip. When I have extra parts that are the same in the kits, I leave them on the tree but clip them apart. Then I put them in containers for various parts; wheels, tires, engine parts, suspension, etc. That saves me a lot of time since I don't have to search for matching pairs. [I hope that makes sense.]

    I still see this kit everywhere. I'm going to get afew more for the stash. Great detail work, you;ve got going on with this one. Personally I liked the rims off the thunderbolt that you showed. I know bolt patterns can be different but the T-bolt look fantastic with the tires. Keep up the kit bashing. Will you do a wiring video, I don't wire my builds because they seldom look good after all the messing about. Maybe you have some dos and don't about that particular modification. Thanks Raoul.

Helps me keep track of what I have. I know it's over 500 unbuilt kits. About 100 resin kits or bodies, 50+ Vintage built ups that I plan to restore/redo.

    That’s looking really nice. Seems to me that I saw a picture of one of these in a magazine, long since buried or thrown away, and there was a pink decal on the driver’s side somewhere, too. I can’t remember if it was on the fender inside the engine compartment, or the windshield, or where, but it mentioned no warranty, too. I don’t believe that’s on the decal sheet, is it?

    Just a thought on the intake manifold. Why not lower the higher side to the same height of the lower side. I realize that you may lose some of the beauty of the carbs in the hood scoop, but it seems to me that it would work out better as far as the hood clearance.

  • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    I was wondering, if you're going to paint the wheels black anyway, why bother stripping the chrome first?

  • @robertmann7277

    @robertmann7277

    I thought the same thing- maybe it helps the paint stick better?

  • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    @TheMuscleCarModeler

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes. Chrome coating will soften the details of the plastic. So stripping it can bring out the detail. Not the case for these wheels but is why I strip the chrome from alternators and other engine parts I don't want chromed. The main reason here is adhesion. Paint tends to peal off chrome in time or chips off easy. It rarely happens but I have had it happen when installing in tires especially when I paint the entire wheel like this.

    The intake WAS correct. It's a cross ram intake. The left carb feeds the right head and the right carb feeds the left carb, so all you did was make it look wrong.

  • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    @TheMuscleCarModeler

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, I know how it works and I disagree. Both carbs are level from each other. The kit intake had one side lower than the other which is wrong. Check out this page. racehemi.maxwedge.com/topics/racehemi-crossrams.php
