LOVE they are leaving the old stained glass. I think too many churches miss out on the old charm of a church. Nothing says im in the presence of God than stained glass lol. It would be so cool to maybe have some haze coming from the ceiling so when the light comes through the glass itll reflect up in the ceiling and not necessarily be all over the sanctuary? Just a thought

My wife and I attended an organ recital last year in a beautiful church in a small town. As I thought about the sacred space, some thoughts came to mind. Stained glass preceded light shows by hundreds of years. Organs are about the loudest wide-spectrum instruments on the planet. Funny, NOBODY complains about the volume of an organ. Almost every square foot of an older church was designed for beauty: the wood, frescoes, lights, statues and more (dated perhaps, but designed for beauty). It's almost impossible to sit in an older sacred space and not feel serene. I don't get that vibe from a "black box" sanctuary.

I know you love to hate on PCs, but ProPresenter 7 is rock solid on PC. PCs also provide a rock solid streaming solution. No need for a soup sandwich of dongles, just internal PCI-e cards and as many CPU cores and GPU hardware encoders as you need to provide a stable experience. System stability is about scaling the hardware to match the workload.

This is a great story of a "resurrection" for a space. Spiritual heritage isn't everything but it isn't trivial either.

my church is similar... stained glass, natural reverb, and lots of dark spots, I am interested to see how the acoustic treatment goes as well as the lighting

Maybe prepping the space so that eventually you could run a console with an LCR out is the best call in terms of PA? The room I mix in is also wider than it is deep and mixing in LCR has been a gamechanger. Room treatment should come first though

Can't wait to see the upgrades. Might have to borrow some of those ideas for our church (which Pastor Kevin may have a connection to :) ). We have a lot of stain glass and natural light and lighting has always been a challenge.

Look at the Sabian FRX cymbals, they are a quieter set of cymbals that still sound great and have a lot of body and tone.

I think the 2M/E Constellation makes a lot of sense for a church that size, they could route every single video signal they'd ever need and then some! Obviously all those windows make lighting for video tough, but I love the stained glass!

Sabian FRX cymbals remove the Harsh frequencies in cymbals, thus creating a perceived lower volume cymbals that actually sound decent

Good ideas here! I’d be curious to see what kinda sound system upgrade y’all would go with for that room. There’s so many great options available these days

No one has issues with OBS. Why do they always say that OBS is a bad solution? I don't get it, and I don't support it. People who say OBS is bad admit that they can't handle it and rely on someone else's software like boxcast etc... This is just to make things clear.

software/hardware hosting would go out of business if everyone realized you just gotta watch a 15 min video and have everything you need and more for streaming for free with OBS

I had the idea a few weeks ago to use mesh heads, triggers, silent cymbals, and contact mics all with a brain so that it feels like I'm playing real drums, get rid of our poorly designed drum enclosure, and can use samples to make everything sound better - instead of investing $15k on room treatment.

That can definitely help solve the drum stage noise issue. But bad acoustics in the room will still be an issue if there isn't enough absorption.

Someone needs to get more up to speed on digital drums and forget about some outdated personal bias. Good luck trying to coach random amateur volunteer drummers...
