Recreationally, you register once, get a registration number, and use that on all your drones flown recreationally. You need to add all your recreational drones in the listing on the DroneZone, including the RID modules that you are using recreationally. So if you listed a drone before in your drone list and it didn't have RID and now it does, simply delete it and add it again with the correct info. You can't edit the list unfortunately.

Nice video; thanks. Would have been helpful to indicate how to meet the below FAA RID labeling requirements. I have searched almost every where to find out how to do it or an example and nothing. Even your organization is silent on this. Even when you had a FAA representative a podcast it was glossed over. The manufacturer is supposed to put the label on it saying it meets the RID requirement or reference the ASTM standard. My DJI Air2S does not have that information on my drone label. DJI states to contact customer support on what to do. That is a black hole of bureaucracy. Why is it so hard to get any conclusion here? Thanks for any help in this matter. § 89.525 Labeling. (a) No person may produce a standard remote identification unmanned aircraft under § 89.515 unless it displays a label indicating that the unmanned aircraft meets the requirements of this part. The label must be in English and be legible, prominent, and permanently affixed to the unmanned aircraft. (b) No person may produce a remote identification broadcast module under § 89.520 unless it displays a label indicating that the equipment meets the requirements of this part. absolutely asinine that it costs $5 for a 107 registered aircraft to change RID info . . . $0 cost for hobby registered (same registration database, same system to change the info). Our government FORCING additional costs to be in business . . . for what benefit? In turn, forcing non-compliance . . . and these (most likely) are legacy aircraft -- makes no sense FAA/DOT !

@@davidcooper2951 The logic is that after December, you won't be adding any more modules to existing drones because the deadline will have past. So if you stay within the confines of the current mandate, you get all your currently registered drones updated by that deadline, then it's free. After that, if you get a new drone, it would be the same process as before, $5 for each registration.

  • @davidcooper2951

thx . . you are missing the point. WHY should a 107 have to pay $5 for a (mandated) RID number move (you already paid $5 for registration of EACH aircraft) when a hobbyists can make the change at no charge (they only pay $5 for ALL aircraft). As for "after December" that shouldn't matter --- in my simpleton's eyes the RID module should be able to be moved at NO charge -- the GOAL is for RID to be used, correct? This approach is just another reason to be ROGUE. Lets be real, MOST drones will be RID compatible, so we're only talking about legacy aircraft . . . heck for that matter they could have just exempted legacy drone (not build in) like they did ADS-B and even mode C in some cases for older crewed aircraft.. For those of us with legacy birds its just another MANDATED $2-300 charge that benefits us NONE. OR pay $5 per move. We probably just wont agree, but this is just another example of bad staff work when the concept came up.
