How to Uninstall and Delete a Preinstalled Android System App with Root?

Preinstalled Android apps can be annoying and take up space but the SD Maid application can completely uninstall and delete this bloatware if you have root access.
~~~~~
Hi! Don't forget to hit the "Thanks" button on this video, if you can, and join our channel community here - / @explainingandroid
Video Description
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Having full control over your hardware is something I feel is important so I'm not a fan of preinstalled bloatware apps disabling this uninstall feature of Android.
Thankfully, with root access we can do just about anything we want with our smartphones and that's what this SD Maid application can do for us.
Once opened, you'll need to tell the app to list these system apps first. Then go ahead and tell the app to refresh its app list so you can see everything you have installed.
WARNING
Be careful with what you uninstall using this application. Some apps may seem innocent and useless but are actually required by other important services that Android uses.
When ready, tap the system app you want to uninstall and then tap the "Delete" button on the options page. You'll get a confirmation box to see if you're sure this is what you want to do.
After confirming the task, be sure to check the storage being used by the app again. You should see that number shrink down to 0 bytes in size.

    If you have noticed apps reappearing when trying to remove them with SD Maid, that's probably because your phone supports the dynamic partition feature, and you'll need to follow this video instead - kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zaau15tmaNPbd6w.html

    It's so funny, exactly what you do in this video is what I always did when I installed Sd maid. Just gotta be careful, like you said. Gotta make sure you dont remove something that will break the os. Thanks bro.

    I appreciate you taking the time to explain this. My phone was hacked via a remote access program that was gained via one of these manufacturer installed apps. Every ave I take seems to put me in a circle for a simple thing as uninstalling an app. I tried via sd-maid but like u said, it comes right back due to updates not completed. So here I am w this de-bloater. A lot of the terms you mention are foreign language so can u help me understand what you mean by "root"? (I have a chromebook w ping prompts). The app does say no root and I did install a random magisk app from the play store. Ive spent hrs this weekend and hoping to find that one link to just delete this stupid remote access app before I go 1994 and eliminate the internet...

    As far as I can see this application does not work anymore 2 years later. I tried to uninstall some basic apps like whether one used to be downloadable by choice but then two years ago they forced it onto my phone it don't work right at crashes so it was a test experiment to try that one first period and it just keeps saying that it was unsuccessful at uninstalling it it don't matter what I do it's unsuccessful.

    Great video, so, as long as you have a replacement for the deleted app it's fine to delete any app? I'm using lineage os and I really want to get rid of the default camera, I already have Google camera as a replacement.

  • @ExplainingAndroid

    @ExplainingAndroid

    Жыл бұрын

    yes! as soon as the default LOS camera app is disabled/uninstalled you should make sure a replacement is ready. you can then test it by double pressing on the Power button twice (to launch the camera) and it will ask you which camera you want to launch with this shortcut. choosing the google camera replacement will then assign it as your stock camera app for the phone

    if you unlock the bootloader in order to root/install custom firmware, you will trip KNOX which can not be changed back to previous state so you'll lose warranty if you had any. after tripping KNOX, you WON'T BE ABLE TO: make purchases on galaxy store, use samsung pass EVEN IF YOU HIDE ROOT WITH MAGISK HIDE because it checks KNOX instead of ROOT STATE. however, secured folder and other samsung applications like samsung notes, samsung cloud will be available to use without any problems. BUT you'll have to install firmware updates MANUALLY
