Kristen - are you able to open your planner, and fold it back on itself with those rubber caps?

This is a great question and one I didn't think about when I did this, and I've never seen anyone say anything about it in the posts I saw on FB about this technique. I just tried it and the caps are just barely in the way of the corner of the cover 😭 It's not terrible but it seems annoying. I also think the caps need to be trimmed shorter. I'm gonna try out some stuff and I'll post an update as soon as I can.

I saw a video a couple of years ago of a woman doing it this was and it was genius. FYI;for anyone: I have Dorman brand “vinyl vacuum caps” in 1/8” and those work well (a little long, but you can trim them).

This definitely looks so much easier! I hate trying to bend that dang coil back and then trying to not tear up your pages ugh..the worst! Definitely will try this!! Ty

Cutting the coil is GENIUS!!! I've always been terrified to uncoil because I know I'd make a mess of it. This looks SO MUCH easier!!

My needle nose pliers/wire cutter looks as grungy as yours :) You made this look SO SO easy! I am no longer afraid of Frankenplanning in the future if I want to fully customize an EC!

I ordered the 3mm size. They’re a little big, I think if I put a little glue inside they will stay on.

I carefully clipped the pages for July to Dec 24 out of my new 18 month planner and put on a coil I had. That way my big coil is all of 2025!

This does seem a lot easier than bending and re-pending the coil.

I have never seen this before. Normally, once you cut it, it’s just not the same. That bend isn’t smooth when folding back the planner - which I do daily. I do use the monthly planner like you are doing now, but this might help me if I need extra notes pages. Unlike you, I use a ton of! 😂 Thank you for this!

I LOVE this, thank you so much for sharing! I am trying EC for the first time this year and really wanted the Academic planner for my master's program, but felt there wasn't enough planning space so I went with the daily duo. This would allow me to insert the helpful academic spreads each month! I did not like how bending the coil could affect the paper and so I was resigned to not having the perfect 'me' planner. Thank you so much!

I wish people could be exposed to this type of planning and the channel to grow bigger and bigger.

Could we cut just one side? Seems like uncoiling and then recoiling in the opposite direction we could keep the integrity of one of the ends. Or is it just easier going down both ways?

If you don't cut off both ends it will be difficult to turn the coil to get it out of the holes. You could try it out by only cutting one end first to see if you need to.

Very interesting. For the punch, I wonder if you laminate the page and then punch if it'll work as a snap in cover...

I may have to try cutting the coil. I could never get it to work with bending it. It would always get caught or tear the paper.

I wish there was a way to get those weekly tracker pages without buying a lifeplanner!

How is your recoiling working out with cutting the coil and covering the tips? I ordered the plastic tips and want to try it!

Honestly it's not 100% yet. My caps keep falling off because the size is wrong. I could glue, but I'm looking into alternatives and I'll be sure to keep everyone posted. I did include a little update in my setup video (can't rember if it's in part 1 or part 2).

I never had luck bending the coil either! I’m not strong enough to get it bent good again. Also, my question is, do you need to cut off both ends?
