    I forgot to stop by and thank you. The bleach didn’t really work, so I taped the hose of my shop vac to the end of the condensation line outside. Sucked the gunk right out! It’s going to be 108 today...at least😎 but the ac works now.

    Thank you and Subscribed! So for us, the drain pan was bone dry but starting the other day the pipe under the roof eave, was dripping madly. So the PE Pipe was very clogged as well as the drain pipe itself. So I poured the bleach water mix down both of them, then used my leaf blower to blow down both pipes and that seemed to have stopped the dripping. My wife was outside when I was doing this and she said all the bleach and water came out in a pour. I’m guessing the pipes were clogged for a long time but this 100 degree heat melted some of the gunk which was why it was constantly dripping because water was trapped in there for a long time. Once all the gunk was clear, the water was free to flow and now no more dripping:) I will check again tomorrow to be sure but I think we are good so thank you sir 🤠

    Mizz Cachanilla there was a pvc pipe on the side of the house, sticking out of the wall. Drips water when we run ac. I duct-taped a shop vac to the end and ran it for a minute or so. It sucked the piped clear so the water wouldn’t back up into the house anymore.

    The p-trap on the drain line is needed because if it is open it will either suck air in through the drain line and cause a smell or blow conditioned air out wasting energy. Yes they cause clogs but if fixing it is as simple as pouring bleach down the line once a year why should you worry about it if you have a HVAC contractor service it once a year (like your supposed to) he will most likely do that for you

  • @billo6396

    @billo6396

    Nathan is correct you do need a P-trap for that purpose, so you don’t breathe dirty air or gases during the winter months when your using your heat. Also the water is acidic, therefore the furnace should be raised above the flood level of the rim of the condensate pan. And use approved materials to raise it, not brick or wood. Masonary absorbs water and can cause damage to your furnace. The condensate line in the pan is the secondary, and it should be placed in a location where it’s not a nuisance but you can see the water coming out of it so you know there’s a problem. (to me it seems that your second gear is not working properly) Or you can install an automatic shut off switch in the pan, it will automatically shut off the furnace so you know there’s a problem.
